A lovely couple of weeks. A multi-sensory approach to spellings (always!) Boardgame designing, a bit of SPaG revision for a Yr 6 and role play and a beautiful story to help with tricky punctuation.

Just a tiny snippet of what we get up to!

We had some very fluffy inspiration for our writing last week!

Very happy to plan sessions to suit specific interests, needs and to include fluffy guests 🐣

I LOVE my job.

A session with two brilliant girls, in the sunshine, surrounded by ponies!

Reading practise through games, spelling rule recap and then applied said spelling rule in a poem based on 'Sound Collector' and ended with a game to consolidate.

A lovely week of sessions including sessions outside in the sunshine, newts and frog spawn very helpfully linking to our focus spelling 'aw' and a personalised football themed persuasive text.

πŸ“– A little nod to World Book Day today in our maths session focusing on strategies to help us with our mental subtraction.

🏑 We kicked off with a 6 times table hunt in the garden, looked at vocabulary used for addition and subtraction and practised our subtracting skill.

πŸ§™β€β™€οΈ We ended with potion making (based on The Witches) and will use our potion recipes for follow on work next week

Had a lovely first session of our little maths group.

A first session is always spent building relationships and ensuring the children know our sessions are a safe place to make mistakes, celebrate small wins and try new things.

If a child isn't relaxed and happy, learning is simply not going to happen.

🌟 I've still one slot available in our maths group. Get in touch to find out more.

Just some of the wonderful activities the brilliant children I am lucky enough to tutor have been getting up to.

All sessions are absolutely child-led - I often find myself going rogue from the plan and crafting a session on the spot based on a picture or a story the children share. All part of the fun!

*eggs fresh from a lovely girl's chickens are a perk of the job! As are cookies baked by another kind mum - but no evidence of those as they were gobbled too quickly!
