Kendal Snowsports Club

Kendal Snowsports Club A charity run purely by volunteers. Formed to encorage and pass on our love of Snowsports for all. We are a purely voluntary organisation.

Formed as Kendal Ski club in 1984 after a meeting encoraged two hundred people each put in £10 to get things started and build their own slope and ski lodge on the side of the hill below Kendal Castle. In 1997 following a successful bid for a lottery grant, the slope was totally rebuilt using the then untried Snowflex matting system and then extended in 2004. The club was formed with the principle

of skiing for anyone who wants to have a go. This was, still is, and always will be, the foundation stone of the club. The only change has been to embrace Snowboarding into this ethos. The people who greet you in the lodge and take your money, hand out tokens and set up the equipment for you are all members who have volunteered, as are the ground staff, club officers and our highly-trained team of instructors. All monies are ploughed back into the club facilities. We all do it because at whatever level of ability, we all love skiing. The club's aim is to encourage anyone who wants to, to come and learn to ski.

🥇 BRITISH CHAMPION! 🇬🇧⛷️

What an incredible weekend for our racers at the British Dry Slope Championships in Stoke.

A massive congratulations to Obie, who has been crowned the U10 British Dry Slope Slalom Champion! 👏🏆 After an outstanding season of racing, Obie produced another superb performance when it mattered most to take home the national title. Everyone at the club is incredibly proud of this fantastic achievement.

There were also some brilliant performances from our other racers:

⭐ Islo skied superbly to finish an impressive 4th in a highly competitive U12 field, narrowly missing out on a podium place.

🥉 Owen raced strongly throughout the weekend to secure 3rd place in the Masters category.

👏 Gretel, competing in her first-ever British Championships, put in a fantastic performance to finish 9th in the U16 category—an excellent result on her championship debut.

These results are a testament to the dedication and hard work of all our racers, along with the continued support from our coaches, families and volunteers.

A big thank you to Team Evolution for hosting a fantastic British Championships and providing such a well-run event for competitors from across the country.

Congratulations to everyone who represented the club—you've done us proud! 💙💛

A very successful maintenance day on Sunday.

A total of 10 people came down for all or part of the day.

Fabulous to see one of our younger members getting involved - Never to Old OR Young to help out.

We continued work on: wall repairs, fence painting, water tank repairs, slope pressure washing and applying algaecide to the slope.

Thanks to all who came.
Still plenty more to do before we plan to reopen in early September.

NEEDLESS VANDALISM at our Volunteer run Ski Club Grounds.

At around 7pm on Monday evening a neighbour to our
Ski Slope heard some youths messing about near the
ski club.

He thought they were up to no good so reported it.

When a club member went to investigate shortly after
the youths had gone but they had pushed down a large
section of dry stone wall which is the boundary between
the club and the path up Castle hill.

This second occasion of pointless destruction will take
days of work for our volunteers to repair, taking them
away from preparing our slope for the new season.

This incident was reported to the police and our
volunteers are searching through our CCTV coverage
from our full set of slope cameras.

Please report anything to help catch the culprits and
report any similar incidents seen like this .

Cumbria Police - crime reference number is CRI
10054621 (Cumbria Police did not attend and have now closed the case)😟
