Children's Mental Health Week - Let's Connect.

As a class we discussed what “connect” means. The children were unsure at first therefore, we demonstrated the meaning using duplo. Once we had connected the pieces together we read the story “Room on the Broom”. We discussed what brought the animals and the witch together to be friends and talked about how they created a connection. We also spoke about the feelings the connection would make the character experience. The children said that they thought the characters would be happy as they are all friends.

Once we had finished all of our discussions we drew pictures of ourselves and someone we have a connection with. We drew what we do together, with that person, which is special and allows us to connect with them. Once we finished our pictures we then cut them up and reconnected them like a jigsaw puzzle to reinforce the meaning of connect.

This half term we have covered the topic "Fairytales". We have really enjoyed sharing fairytale stories such as; "The Billy Goats Gruff", "The Three Little Pigs" and "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" and more.

The children have participated in many activities focused around these stories as well as activities planned around their individual interests.

Christmas Dinner/Christmas M***i Day this Wednesday 14th December. Please send your child into school wearing something relating to Christmas!

This week, the children came to nursery telling us all about how they had started putting their Christmas decorations up at home. Therefore, we followed the children's interest in Christmas for our learning.

We have made Christmas cards, encouraging the children to write their own names in their cards. We have also created Christmas wreaths, and worked together to decorate the nursery with Christmas decorations.

Furthermore, the drop of temperature outside has prompted the children to talk about the weather. We have discussed how the weather changes in winter and explored ice/snow themed tuff trays, created winter tree art work, made snowflakes and made snowmen with our names on them. We have then proudly displayed some of their work on our winter display.
