We’re continuing our Meet the Apprenticeships Team series by introducing you to Katie 🎓

📚 What areas do you look after?

Early Years, Construction, Residential Childcare and HR.

🏫 How long have you been at Kendal College?

A year in September!

💙 What do you enjoy most about your role?

Supporting young people and being part of their journey towards their future careers. I also love the variety the role offers. One week I could be visiting a nursery, and the next I might be on a building site. It's all good fun and a big part of what makes the role so interesting and rewarding.

💡 Katie’s top tips for apprentices:

“Every day is a school day! Take every opportunity you can to learn, even if you don't think it's relevant at that moment in time. You never know when those skills and knowledge might come in handy in the future. Also, don't be afraid to make mistakes, as that's often when the best learning happens.”

We love having Katie on our Apprenticeships Team, she is always willing to take on a challenge and help out other members of the team whilst being there as support for her apprentices too! 🌟

4.5 years

💙 What do you enjoy most about your role?

Building relationships with employers and getting to know the apprentices. Seeing the apprentices develop, not only within their trades but as young adults.

💡 Heidi’s top tips for apprentices:

"If something is worrying you, please tell me. If I don't know, I can't help!"

We love having Heidi on our Apprenticeships Team, she is always going above and beyond for every single one of her apprentices, ensuring they always have the best support system in place throughout their programme. 🌟

💙 What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy carrying out apprenticeship reviews with apprentices and their employers. I love hearing about the achievements apprentices have accomplished in the workplace and seeing the progress they continue to make.

💡 Megan’s top tips for apprentices:

“Stay curious, ask questions, and embrace every opportunity to learn!”

We love having Megan on our Apprenticeships Team, she is always there as a key point of contact for her apprentices, employers and other members of the team! 🌟

Electrical + Pharmacy

🏫 How long have you been at Kendal College?

Previously worked at the Arts & Media Campus as Learning Support and Lecturer for Theatre & Event Technology for 5 years.
Has been a facilitator for 1 year 5 months.

💙 What do you enjoy most about your role?

The variety that it brings, supporting a wide variety of people with completing their course and seeing the journey that students take during their studies.

💡 Alistair’s top tips for apprentices:

"Take the time to listen to your colleagues at work and absorb the information they pass onto you. Talk about what you've been doing at college and ensure that you get to apply this at work."

We love having Alistair on our Apprenticeships Team, he is always out and about visiting his learners and ensuring they get the most out of their apprenticeship 🌟

13 years

💙 What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy meeting new apprentices, getting to know them, and supporting them throughout their apprenticeship. Seeing the progress they make, overcoming challenges, and celebrating their achievements at the end of the programme are all really rewarding parts of my role.

💡 Kath’s top tips for apprentices:

"Be open to learning and don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Work hard, ask questions, and take every opportunity to gain new skills and experiences. The knowledge and experience you gain now will benefit you throughout your career, so make the most of every opportunity!"

📚 What areas do you look after?

Professional Services + Electrical.

🏫 How long have you been at Kendal College?

10 months

💙 What do you enjoy most about your role?

The variety and diversity it brings. We are here to support both apprentices and employers, which means building strong relationships and being genuinely present throughout the learning journey is so important.

I really value being a dedicated point of contact, so that both employers and apprentices know they have someone they can turn to whenever they need
support, advice or guidance.

💡 Holly’s top tips for apprentices:

“Stay on top of your Off The Job hours! because once you get behind in these, it can be hard to stay on track. I always would recommend logging as you go!”

We love having Holly on our Apprenticeships Team, she is always on hand to support her apprentices, helping them make the most of their journey!
