I’m incredibly grateful, proud, and, if I’m honest, slightly overwhelmed to have been selected as one of just 60 coaches accepted onto the Red Bull HYROX Coaches Camp in Brazil. 🇧🇷
In an industry where success can sometimes feel like it’s measured by how many followers you have, how big your social media presence is, or how good you are (or were) as an athlete, this recognition means something different to me.
I haven’t been selected because I have the biggest following.
I haven’t been selected because I’m an elite HYROX athlete.
I’ve been recognised as a coach because of my experience, qualifications, coaching ethos and vision for the sport.
And that honestly means more than I can put into words.
After 17 years in education, a degree in Sport & Exercise Science, years of coaching, continual learning, and a genuine obsession with understanding how people move, train and perform, I’ve always believed that being a great coach is about far more than your own athletic ability.
It’s about understanding and empathy.
It’s about adapting.
It’s about communicating.
It’s about continuing to learn.
And ultimately, it’s about helping someone else become better.
Being recognised in this way has definitely had me fighting off the imposter syndrome.
But perhaps that’s a good thing.
Because it reminds me that opportunities like this aren’t just about where you are now. They’re about the years of work, learning and belief that got you here.
So, Red Bull and HYROX thank you for believing in me as a coach.
I’m incredibly excited to learn, contribute, meet some amazing coaches and represent what I believe coaching should be.
