I've just finished the first week of this year's one year IGCSE physics course, and what a lovely group of students they seem to be.
We started with atomic structure on Monday, exploring the structure of the atom and how stable and unstable atoms can behave. It's one of my favourite lessons because it lays the foundations for so much of the physics that follows.
One of the things I enjoy most about teaching home educated students is the variety of questions they bring. No two groups are ever quite the same, and the discussions often take us in fascinating directions.
There are still two spaces available on this year's course, so if you've been considering IGCSE physics but haven't quite made a decision yet, it's not too late to join us.

Two weeks today I’ll be starting a new one year Edexcel IGCSE Physics course with one of my favourite topics, Radioactivity and Particles.
It’s a topic that tends to spark lots of conversation - from nuclear reactors and medical physics to stars and fundamental particles. I love showing students how physics can connect some of the smallest particles to some of the biggest structures in the Universe.
As always, lessons will be taught in small interactive groups, with lots of discussion, worked examples, structured notes and ongoing support throughout the course. I’m looking forward to getting to know a new group of students and discovering the different strengths and ways of thinking they each bring over the next 12 months!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking to a lovely family who are just starting their home ed adventures. Their eldest is hoping to pursue GCSEs, and I was so glad to be able to point them towards some genuinely excellent tutors offering thoughtful, small-group courses for home ed students.
I’m proud to know and work alongside such fantastic people who combine their subject expertise with real warmth to help home ed students grow in confidence. Here’s to being part of that community - a big shout out to 👇

Thinking about IGCSE Physics for your home educated child - but unsure about choosing the right course? 🤔
I completely understand.
This two year course is a long-term commitment, with most providers requiring upfront payment for a term or more. For many families - especially those with children who have had a complex relationship with education, anxiety, or additional needs - that can feel like a big risk. What if it’s not the right fit for your child?
Finding the right provider isn’t just important for you and your child - it matters to me as well. My groups are small and often fill up, and I don’t want to offer places to students if the course isn’t going to suit them. It’s much better for everyone if we take the time to get the support right from the start.
I’m confident that my courses are high quality - with structured, supportive lessons in small groups, and teaching shaped by many years of experience supporting home educated and neurodivergent students.
But it won’t be right for every child - and that’s absolutely fine.
To help families make an informed decision, I offer several ways to get a feel for the course before committing:
- A free Zoom chat for parents to ask questions
- A free 15-minute 1:1 introductory session for your child to meet me and experience how I teach
- A free sample lesson recording and materials (including homework)
- A paid trial lesson (where spaces allow)
- Clear written information, including course structure and schedule
If you’re considering IGCSE Physics but aren’t quite sure yet, you’re very welcome to start with a no-pressure conversation or intro session.

As there are only two spaces remaining on my two year IGCSE physics course starting in September, I'm pleased to offer a *new two-year IGCSE physics course* starting in June 2026.
This course is identical in content to the September course, but with a handy break during April and May 2027 - perfect if your child will be sitting exams in other subjects around that time.
I'll be updating the website shortly, but in the meantime drop me a message if this sounds like it could suit you!

Due to popular demand, I am exploring ways to expand my two year course. If you are interested in learning IGCSE physics in a small, friendly group with a neuroaffirming qualified teacher please let me know. All classes are capped at 8 students.

I’m so excited (and honestly very grateful) by the response to my new IGCSE Physics courses so far 💛
After opening to my priority list just last week, my two-year course (starting September) is already half full, with several families having secured their places. It’s been really lovely to see how much interest there is in a calm, supportive space for learning physics.
These courses are designed especially for home educated teens - with small groups, clear structure, and plenty of encouragement. My aim is always to make students feel safe, capable, and confident in their learning. If you’ve been thinking about IGCSE Physics and wondering whether now is the right time, you’re very welcome to get in touch and have a chat. Places are limited so I can keep each group small, personal, and genuinely supportive 💫
