Hello everyone!
Another update:
I have been allocated my inspector! She has let me know that there is a bit of a backlog but this is a huge step in the right direction and hopefully it won’t be too long before my doors are open.😁

I have also been nominated alongside another wonderful childminder Donna Long - Wild child ELC for an Early Years Scotland Award in the category ‘Nurture and Wellbeing Trailblazer Award’ which is so very exciting!

I hope everyone is well and coping in this heat! 🥵☀️

Fingers crossed I’ll have another update for you soon!

Just a little update for those who’ve been asking 😊

- We’re completely moved into our lovely new house in Jedburgh 🏡

- I’m still in the process of becoming a registered childminder and currently waiting to be allocated an inspector. It feels like a bit of a waiting game at this stage, but everything is moving in the right direction!

Can’t quite believe the interest I’ve had so far! My informal waiting list is filling up nicely💖

I’m really looking forward to the next steps and getting things fully up and running. Thanks so much for all the support and encouragement so far.

Posting this from sunny Cyprus but i’ll keep you all updated as soon as there’s more news! A big next step is our garage to playroom conversion which I have HUGE plans for🤩😍

🎉 Exciting update! 🎉

I’m super excited to share that I have now progressed to the next stage of my Care Inspectorate application and I am currently awaiting allocation of an inspector.
This is a big step forward and brings me closer to officially opening my childminding service!

I have also successfully completed three courses through SCMA this week, continuing to build my knowledge and skills to provide a safe, caring, and high-quality environment🥰

Due to the amazing amount of interest and enquiries I’ve already received, I am now taking names for a waiting list for families who would like a place here once I open!

Hello everyone!
Here’s a little bit about me as I begin my journey to become a childminder.

Working with children has always been more than just a job to me, it’s truly my passion and something that has been a huge part of my life for many years!! I’ve studied hard to become the best I can be, I have a BA (Hons) in Childhood and Youth Studies and a HNC in Childhood practice. Throughout my training I completed placements at Kelso Hospital and St Boswells Nursery, which helped shape the practitioner I am today.
For the past eight years, I had the privilege of working alongside and learning from Donna Long at Wild Child Early Learning and Childminding. During that time we built something really special together and were incredibly proud to win Best Childcare in the Borders in 2022 at the borders business awards. I am currently covering a maternity post at Jedburgh Grammar ELC as an Early Years Officer, continuing to do what I love every day.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I care about children. I have always had a nurturing and caring nature (this is down to my very lovely family) and being around children brings me so much happiness! Through nannying, babysitting, working in childcare and caring for family children, I’ve always felt that this is exactly where I’m meant to be.

I truly believe a house doesn’t feel like a home without children in it! The laughter, the learning, the little voices, the creativity, the fun and even the messy moments all make it feel warm and full of life. I can’t wait to open my home and fill it with happy, safe, and loved little ones🥰Creating a space where children feel secure, supported, and free to grow and be themselves.
This is such a special and exciting step for me, and I feel so lucky to be able to follow my dream of supporting children and families in my community as a childminder.

Hello everyone and welcome to Shaney’s Childcare! 👋

I’m excited to introduce my new Childminding venture based in Jedburgh, Scottish Borders. I have recently completed my childminding induction course and am currently in the process of completing my Care Inspectorate application while working hard behind the scenes to create a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment for children and families.

Shaney’s Childcare aims to provide a warm, home-from-home setting where children can learn through play, build confidence, and grow in a supportive and caring space. I am passionate about delivering high-quality childcare and creating strong, trusting relationships with both children and parents.

I’m hoping to open in the summer months, and I’ll be sharing updates along the way as everything progresses. 🌈
