Thinking about a little extra support for your child but not sure where to start?

We have opened a limited number of initial 1:1 sessions over the October holidays for families interested in joining our tutoring programme.
These sessions allow us to work individually with your child, get to know them as a learner and identify their strengths, confidence and areas where some additional support could help.

Following the session, we'll recommend the most appropriate next step and, where suitable, match your child with one of our small tutoring groups of no more than 4 pupils.

🧪 What have our STEM pupils been creating? 👀
From a piece of plain fabric… to their very own handmade juggling beanbags! 🤹‍♀️
Over the last few weeks, our STEM pupils have taken an idea from initial design right through to a finished product.
They:
🎨 Planned their own designs
🌈 Tie-dyed their fabric
🖌️ Added their own painted details
🪡 Learned to use a needle and thread — some for the very first time!
💡 Adapted their designs when things didn't quite go to plan
✂️ Used Bondaweb and an iron to construct and finish their beanbags
🍚 Carefully filled them with rice
🤹 And finally… learned how to juggle with what they'd made!
But the finished beanbags are only a tiny part of what they learned.
This project was about planning, practical skills, problem-solving, creativity and resilience.
Things didn't always work first time. Designs had to change. New skills took practice.
And that's exactly what STEM is about. 💎

Kids’ art class… but make it calming. 🎨✨
Tonight we tried something a little different at Gem of Knowledge.
We dimmed the main lights, added individual table lamps, put on some relaxing music and created a really cosy environment for our artists to switch off and create.
We all absolutely loved the atmosphere (including myself). 🥰
After a full day at school, sometimes children don't need another loud, busy activity. They need somewhere they can slow down, focus on something they enjoy and just create.
Our art classes are kept small so that children have space to develop their skills, experiment with different materials and work on artwork that's personal to them — without the pressure for everyone to produce exactly the same thing.

💎 Why do we keep our tutoring groups to a maximum of just FOUR children?

Because our small-group tutoring should still feel personal.

Four children in the same group doesn't mean four children doing exactly the same thing.

One child might need more support with number bonds. Another might be ready to move on. One might need practical resources to really see the maths, while another needs help building confidence to explain their thinking.

That's why our groups stay small.

It gives our tutors the ability to notice the little things, adapt the learning and give each child the support that they actually need - while children still get all the confidence and enjoyment that comes from learning alongside others.

Small groups. Big progress. Personalised learning.

🎨 PRINT-MAKING WEEK at Gem of Knowledge!

Our young artists have had a brilliant week exploring the art of print-making - designing, experimenting and learning how their ideas can be transformed into prints!

One thing we really value in our art classes is giving children the opportunity to experience lots of different techniques, materials and processes.

It's not about everyone producing an identical picture to take home.

We want our young artists to learn new skills, experiment, make their own creative decisions and develop confidence in their own ideas.

This week meant getting hands-on with printing and we absolutely loved seeing the different results. Our younger learners used the foam printing technique, whereas our older learners were taught how to use carving tools to create lino-prints.

Small groups. New skills. Creative freedom.

And with some spaces currently available in our art programme, there's still time to join us.

"Okay, but does my child actually need tutoring?"

Maybe. Maybe not.

And we're not going to tell you they do just to fill a space.

That's why every new pupil at Gem of Knowledge starts with an initial assessment for just £22 (the same price as our small group tutoring).

We'll work with your child to identify what they're already confident with, where there may be gaps and what their next steps should be.

If they'd benefit from some extra support, we'll recommend the most appropriate option. If they don't need weekly tutoring, we'll tell you that too.

Our ongoing tutoring groups have a maximum of just 4 pupils, and we currently have a handful of spaces remaining from P2-S2.
