Watch Now: 'It's All About The Children'
Collin Care Nurseries are a member of a for the sector by the sector membership association called 2020 Together (We Can) (2020twc).
2020twc was established in 2017 to represent owners and directors of nurseries in the Private Voluntary and Independent (PVI) sector, with a focus on the 1140hrs funding proposals.
Back in 2017, 2020twc highlighted to government all the issues we as a sector would face because of such a rapid expansion, particularly of the Public Sector.
Unfortunately, the warnings went unchecked and the inequities we see today set in.
We have ended up with a funding model that favours public sector nurseries over PVI settings. Funding was supposed to follow the child, it doesn’t.
We’ve ended up with massive churn in staffing in the PVI as there is a huge pay gap between what we are funded to pay our staff in the PVI compared to what an equivalently qualified member of staff in the public sector is paid. PVI are funded to Real Living Wage – currently £12 per hour, whilst public nursery jobs start at £16 per hour, rates agreed with COSLA and the public sector unions.
The funding and pay gaps have led to all of our children in PVI nurseries being treated inequitably.
To address these three issues the members of 2020twc have self-funded a video to tell our story.
You may now be asking what you can do to help?
It’s simple, view the video, read the manifesto and if you agree with our collective aims, please tell us so. Parent, staff and other stakeholder have the power to effect policy change and to help us deliver on our simple aims. You can get in touch by emailing [email protected].
Please support our campaign and make our voice heard.

We were so pleased for one of our Nurseries to present the Cash for Kids Mascot with a cheque for the amazing amount of £6,170.00 raised by all our staff, children and their families.
Thanks again to everyone who donated to this very worthy cause 😁😁
The children have been exploring all the parts of a flower including leaves, the stem and the petals. We created a little science experiment by seeing how the plant drinks the water to help it grow. We each picked a colour of food colouring to place into our jug of water to explore the changes happening in real time.

One week until our big Cash for Kids Day 🥳
Remember if your child doesn’t attend nursery on a Thursday, there will be activities throughout the full week.
We are exciting to be supporting such an amazing charity, helping children and families in our community 🫶
Today we have been exploring different role play experiences within the garden and the children decided they would like to be robots. They used silver tin foil to create robot armour to protect their body and created their robot layer so they could recharge their batteries .
2 weeks till our big cash for kids week, we will be doing various activities throughout the week to allow all children to take part with our Danceathon on Thursday 2nd May
We are very pleased to be supporting this amazing charity and the way we have set up the pages means that any money you donate will go to children only in North Ayrshire. We have sponsor sheets in the nursery or you can donate via the link below.
We will have more information next week regarding the various activities during the week.

The children were having lots of fun today making their own pizzas.
They were taking turns to make and mix the dough for the pizza base, they were then rolling out their own bases and adding sauce and cheese on top. The children were sharing resources and encouraging each other throughout.
The boys and girls had a fun morning visiting the library. The children were developing their road safety skills by walking to the library and stopping at the roads to wait on the green man showing to cross the road. The children had lots of fun joining in lots of different activities such as dressing up, reading stories and playing in the home corner.
🥳 We’re so excited to be sponsoring Cash for Kids again this year!

Just a little reminder we fill our community pantry on a Tuesday and Thursday. Please come and help yourself before it’s gone.

Something to think about❤️
As a follow on to our previous post about taking part in the FAIRSHARE scheme and trying to help resolve the food wastage problem while also making connections in the community some of our children have been out a walk this morning and delivered a selection of our pantry food to some of our lovely neighbours. The children made these packs up themselves and chose where to deliver them to.
The children are really showing a keen interest in people who help us and how we can all help each other.
COMMUNITY PANTRY🍌🍊🥔🥖…
The nursery are now very pleased to share that we are part of the FARESHARE scheme…
This is for the community as a whole and not just the children and families who attend the nursery.
The wastage of food in Scotland is currently very poor and we are hoping by being part of this scheme we can help reduce the amount of wastage in our country.
Please feel free to take any of what may be of use to you and make the most of helping us prevent food wastage and even bag yourself a little treat from time to time. 🍩
All of the food we have out would be making its way to the bin, it’s much better if anyone could make use of this.
The children had a great time today as the staff from Domino’s paid us a visit and taught the children about making pizza’s Thank you Dominos👏🏻👏🏻
Happy !

This is National Apprenticeship week and we are featuring our amazing apprentices and recognising the contribution they make to the running of the Nursery.❤
Meet Eryn..
"Hi I am Eryn and I joined Treetops in May 2023. For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to work in early years. Being able to learn alongside the children has been so beneficial for my practice. Being able to see what the job role entails and being able to directly put my learning into practice is helping me understand child development"

" I am Sophie and I joined Treetops in November 2022. Learning whilst on the job has been important to me and I have become much more confident in leading the children's learning and development. Working alongside an experienced workforce has taught me valuable skills as part of my early years career"
📖 Happy World book day 📖 The children are having lots of fun today reading their favourite stories.
