There are some years where saying goodbye is so hard. The Year 6 children of 2026 have been remarkable.
There’s a moment when we’ve finally persuaded them to leave and teachers return to their classrooms and you still feel their presence. The walls still reverberate with their voices - echoes of voices like ghosts.
There are drawers with names and discarded pencil cases, water bottles and lunch boxes never to be reclaimed. You’re left feeling kinda bereft not sure whether you want to go home and embrace the summer holidays…
Then you realise you’ve got six weeks off and you embrace the summer holidays.
Anyway, beautiful children, beautiful parents. QED.
Thank you for the support, the cards, the gifts, the words of kindness. You pass into legend and you will never be forgotten.
Bottom of my heart says ‘Thank You’.
Have a blessed summer. Working with, working for your children has been a great honour.
Clock it.
All my love,
Mr G x
