Q: What is Stace Provision?
A: Stace Provision is a family-run Alternative Provision supporting young people aged 7–Post-16 who may be struggling to engage with mainstream education. We provide a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for young people with SEMH, EBSA and additional needs, helping them rebuild confidence and re-engage with learning.
Q: Does a child need an EHCP to attend Stace Provision?
A: Not necessarily. We work closely with schools, SENDCOs and local authorities to understand a young person’s needs and discuss whether a placement with Stace Provision would be appropriate.
Q: What does a typical day look like?
A: Every learner has an individualised programme. This can include English, Maths and PSHE alongside life skills, emotional wellbeing, mentoring, ASDAN, sports, gaming and activities designed around their interests. We do activities both on site and off site dependent on the learner’s preferences
Q: What makes Stace Provision different?
A: We believe interests can be the starting point for engagement. Whether a young person enjoys gaming, football, fitness, bikes or practical activities, we use their interests to build communication, resilience, confidence and motivation to learn.
Q: Do you support young people with EBSA?
A: Yes. We understand that school avoidance is often a sign that a young person is struggling emotionally rather than simply choosing not to attend. Our approach focuses on building trust, reducing anxiety and gradually developing confidence and engagement.
Q: Do you offer Post-16 provision?
A: Yes. We provide personalised Post-16 pathways, including ASDAN, employability skills, life skills, independence and preparation for further education, training or employment.
Q: How can a young person be referred?
A: We can work with schools, SENDCOs, local authorities and families to discuss a young person’s needs and develop a suitable package of support.
Q: Where is Stace Provision based?
A: Stace Provision is based at Kersey Mill in Ipswich, Suffolk. We can be found at the postcode IP7 6DP
Q: What is your overall aim?
A: To help young people who are struggle with mainstream education re-engage, rebuild their confidence and discover that learning can work for them!
