14 years ago I had this crazy idea to help kids learn about technology in a fun, non-competitive environment which promoted socialising and the sharing of ideas. That idea seemed to work, we are still here, bigger and stronger than ever.
Over those 14 years we have worked with around 100 different schools and community groups and events.
We have helped over 1000 young people most of which who were written off by schools and helped them get their GCSE in Computer Science.
In total we have work with around 10,000 young people, taking over the IT & Computer Science departments in some schools.
Our Alumni is incredible.
During the pandemic we were one of the only organisations to provide online activities for young people every single day to help provide them with a distraction and to keep them in a regular schedule that was fun and entertaining. We built, refurbished and distributed over 1261 laptops and desktop computers to schools and community groups all across suffolk helping them keep connected long after covid.
We are now as of May, a UNESCO recognised school and Fully recognised Alternative Provision for Suffolk County Council.
And somehow, the little idea that started 14 years ago is still growing.
To every young person, parent, school, volunteer, staff member and supporter who has been part of this journey — thank you. Creative Computing Club has never just been about computers. It has always been about people, confidence, creativity and giving young people a place where they belong.
Here’s to the next chapter.
