Celebrating Chinese new year 17th February - 3rd March 2026

Exploring and celebrating Chinese new year helps the children to learn about traditions, stories and Family customs. Our lovely staff implemented this through play based activities with a focus of red decorations, storytelling and sensory experiences. These activities have included making lanterns, our rice tray with letters and numbers as featured above, chopsticks to enhance fine motor skills and hand and eye coordination. It was a brilliant learning opportunity promoting respect, diversity and inclusivity within our environment, exploring a wonderful culture and celebrating festivities. 🥰

🐥Baby Room Activity 🐥

Small world - Farm Animal Activity

The children have shown a strong interest in nature and animals, especially farm animals. Using these interests, a wonderful activity was set up to explore this further. Using stories and small world play to explore the different animals and sounds they make, colours, natural resources and textures and incorporating this into our singing with nursery Rhymes (old MacDonald, 5 little ducks) ☺

🌻2+ Room Activity🌻

Small world vehicles, ramps and lights:

Using the children’s interest of small world vehicles to develop and support mathematical concepts such as positional language (i.e. “under” “on” “next to”). The children have enjoyed this activity over the past few weeks and enjoy using the ramps and roads placed at heights and levels to develop on their understanding of positions with adult support, as well as describing the movements of their cars. For example “too fast” “slow” etc. The children have also liked using the “rainbow tunnels” to move cars and vehicles through based on matching colours!

🌻2+ Room Activity🌻

Baby Role play (Washing and dressing):

To develop a sense of self and and understanding of self care through caring for the babies by dressing and washing the dolls. Baby role play allows opportunities for children who may be expecting a new sibling, preparing for this transition, as well as allowing children to communicate within their play and respond to gestures and queues in social situations, by reenacting personal experiences or expanding on their play using their imagination to reenact job occupations including nurses and doctors etc. Fine motor skills can also be incorporated when dressing the dolls by doing up their buttons etc.

❤️Bank staff- zero hours contract - minimum or living wage for your age
