Our curriculum book over the last couple of weeks has been Handa's Surprise. We have been doing lots of different activities, including trying a selection of different fruits. The children were able to touch, smell and taste the different fruits as we discussed their textures, shapes and where they grow.
We have explored the role play fruit and vegetable shop, African small world and a variety of sensory activities such as playdough, frozen peas and potpourri.
Outside we have been making obstacle courses to practice our balancing skills. and building bamboo houses. We have been practising our fine motor and hand eye co-ordination skills by making beaded necklaces and bracelets.
We have also been printing with real fruits and vegetables. ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐

Our final curriculum book for this term was 'Ten things I can do to help my world'.
Over the last two weeks the children enjoyed learning about various ways that they could help to look after the planet, such as recycling, turning off lights to save energy, saving water, composting and looking after the insects and birds.
We enjoyed taking trips to the recycling bins at the school, feeding the worms in the wormery and building bug houses for our gardens.

For the first week of the curriculum story โWhatever nextโ the children helped to make a paper mache planet. We had space small world, making their own rockets role play, planet songs and space themed activities. We also looked more in depth at our solar system where the children learnt the names of each planet. By the end of the week we could point to any of the planets and the majority of the time the children knew which one it was. Using their fine motor skills they decorated their own planet ๐๐ช
