Creative Exploration with Cling Film and Stickers
This morning, a small group of children explored cling film and stickers in the cabin with Leanne. As the activity began, the children eagerly made connections to their own experiences. One child proudly pointed to the roll of cling film and exclaimed, "I have this at my home!"
There were no expectations, instructions, or examples to follow. Instead, the children were free to lead their own learning through exploration, creativity, conversation, and discovery. Accompanied by relaxing classical music, the atmosphere was calm and engaging, allowing the children to fully immerse themselves in the experience.
As they worked together, one child tucked his legs underneath the cling film to make himself more comfortable. His friends quickly copied the idea, and we made sure to acknowledge his thoughtful suggestion, helping everyone feel valued and comfortable within the activity.
Another exciting discovery came when a child realised that stickers could be attached to both sides of the cling film. This revelation sparked curiosity and investigation, with the children enthusiastically exploring the different possibilities and sharing their findings with one another.

What Did the Children Learn?
Through this child-led activity, the children developed a wide range of skills:

A sense of belonging through participating in a collaborative experience where everyone played an important role.
This simple yet engaging activity demonstrated how open-ended experiences create meaningful opportunities for children to learn from one another, build relationships, and develop confidence in their own ideas and abilities.
