We can all remember that special teacher or support staff member at school who helped us feel valued and supported or who inspired our interest in a particular subject. On national we're thanking all the teachers and support staff at Copleston who go the extra mile to support students in so many different ways and really make a difference to their lives and to their futures!

We are so fortunate at Copleston that our students don't wait for one day each year to thank the adults who help them! Visitors comment on the number of students who automatically say 'thank you miss/sir' at the end of each lesson - and it never fails to make us smile! We are also grateful to have such supportive parents. This is part of what makes Copleston such a fantastic community!

Year 8 students had a very successful visit to Saint-Omer in France on Friday. Students really embraced the opportunity to experience French culture and to put their language skills to the test! We hope to share some photos taken by students in an upcoming post. Well done to all the students for representing Copleston on an international level so brilliantly and thank you to the staff who made the trip possible!

We love seeing students in school every day and our weekly 'Race to 50' sweet cone rewards are so popular! This term, the rewards are even higher, with an extra special summer attendance streak now in progress. There are some incredible prizes on offer for students who make it all the way to the end and are entered into the final draw!

Year 11, how has it been 5 years already? We loved celebrating with you yesterday on your final full day in Year 11. To those returning for Sixth Form, we can't wait to welcome you back and to those moving on, we wish you every success! It isn't goodbye just yet though - we will see you all at prom and on results day!

Our Year 12 Biology students weren't put off at all by the rain and had a fantastic day of field work at Daws Hall Nature Reserve this week. They were an absolute credit to the school and collected excellent data to analyse back in the lab. Great photos by Y12 students Nicole and Brooke, and from Miss Row.

In what has become something of an annual tradition, it was X half against Y half in the final lunchtime football match of the year, cheered on by large crowds of enthusiastic supporters from other year groups. It embodied the very best of Copleston student character - friendly rivalry; unbreakable team spirit; respectful and well-behaved spectators despite the large numbers. Year 11, you may know which team were the champions, but we are so incredibly proud of you all!

Huge congratulations to Erin and Alfie, two former Sixth Form students, who attended Buckingham Palace on 22nd May to receive their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards. This is the culmination of a huge amount of hard work during their time at Copleston and we are so proud of both of them for this incredible achievement!

Just before the half term break, Laura attended the finals of the Suffolk Speak Out competition with her inspirational speech “Shock-Absorbing Mindset”. Laura received second place for her excellent speech which demonstrated vulnerability through personal anecdote, an engaging performance and plenty of smiles. Congratulations, Laura!

An enthusiastic team of staff volunteers and their families gave up the first day of their half term and worked incredibly hard to start work on restoring our pond and conservation area. We have lots still to do, but have exciting ideas to potentially use it in science lessons, for projects with SEND students, for student volunteering and work experience and for staff and student wellbeing. We would love to involve more of our community in this exciting project too - please share!
