Helmingham Primary School & Nursery

Helmingham primary school and nursery had their sports day last Friday - we were blessed with dry and sunny weather.
All the children did really well, supported each other and had fun.
Friends of Helmingham provided refreshments and they would like to thanks the families who baked, the Co Op for vouchers, Otley village shop for a donated cake and ASDA for the ice poles.
Thank you everybody for making the afternoon a real success!

Guess who is inside our robot. Hedgehogs told me that he is a counting robot! The children used their creativity to build the robot and leave room inside to make him walk about, counting his steps as he goes!

Friends of Helmingham and Henley have been working hard to prepare a joint Spring fair which is this Sunday, 19th April from 10am - 2pm at Helmingham Primary School. The landowner of the field opposite has kindly let us use it for parking. The activities and stands will be running throughout the 4 hours so please do pop down at whatever time suits you.

There are light refreshments of tea, coffee, squash, cakes and buns, a nature trail, a raffle with some great prizes and some activity stands including crafts and marble jar. The new playground markings have been so a great chance to try out some of the games!

There is a cost of £3 per child for the trail and crafts stand (to cover the reward and craft item costs), you can sign up in advance with the bank details on flyer (this would really help to work out refreshments), or you can turn up on the day.

There are lots of fabulous raffle prizes - fruit hampers, flowers, cider pack, juices and a lot of great vouchers for entries to children’s attractions and a £40 pub meal voucher! Tickets are £2 a strip/5 tickets.

The Woodland Throw Stand (under 7 years above 7yrs) have family entry vouchers to the South Suffolk Show and an event of your choice at the Mid Suffolk Showground (Stonham) as the winning prizes.

Please bring along cash (ideally change) or you can purchase tokens via our card reader.

All very welcome so extended family, friends and neighbours- the more the merrier!

At Helmingham, we are really excited as we have just received (from the Institution of Engineering and Technology) the explore level sets for the First Lego League Unearthed programme. A STEM project for 7-10yrs olds. We are looking forward to starting the archaeological journey during after school Lego club this term.
Mrs Powley was very excited to see the Indianna Jones style mini figures as part of the set!

We are so pleased to be able to share with you, some pictures of some of our new playground markings. The school and FOHS have worked to collaboratively to produce the funds for this project. This is only phase 1... there will be more to follow.
The children were really excited to see them being installed yesterday, watching intently to how they were laid out and fixed. Pupils are excited to be able to start using them now that they have set. Thanks to Thermmark for their designs and installation.
