Martlesham Preschool Martlesham Preschool is run by a voluntary committee of parents, elected each year at the Annual General Meeting.

This is open to the parents/carers of all the children who attend the setting, and employs a team of highly qualified and experienced staff. Martlesham Pre-School:

What does the term 'Early Years' mean to you? Here at Martlesham Preschool, we believe that it's all about jumping in those muddy puddles, just to see what happens! Looking at the world with curiosity and wonder;
Asking questions, and discovering answers;
Exploring and testing your own ideas;
Feeling safe and secure. We believe that every child is unique and individual, therefore, it is our job to find out what sparks your child's imagination, and natural desire to gain their own knowledge and understanding of the world around them. We aim to tailor our learning opportunities to feed the beautiful curiosity found in all children. We are a small team of highly trained, and experienced Early Years Practitioners. We pride ourselves in our commitment to, our own, professional development, and in our reflective practice. We use a Key-Worker system, meaning that children form some lovely bonds during their time with us, and practitioners get to know children and families very well. Early years means so much more than 'just the time you spend before starting school.' It is truly the key foundation for acquiring positive attitudes to learning;
Attitudes that will stay with you for a lifetime;
A foundation of learning opportunities that will give your child the essential knowledge and experiences they need to have true 'cultural capital'. We also understand that for many children that are now starting this journey, their experiences of life, so far, have not been '100% normal'. Due to the Covid Pandemic, children coming into Early Years settings, for the first time, may NOT be used to larger groups;
They may NOT have played with other children of their own age;
They may NOT have been left in the care of anyone else, other than their own parents;
They may NOT have seen too many new faces and smiles, due to the mandatory use of face masks. We always keep these factors in mind with every family that we meet. We value everyone's personal experiences, and we will work in partnership with parents to promote a positive transition for all. Martlesham preschool is a small, registered charity, and is run by a parent committee.

Recently we have been learning about Autumn 🍂

We have explored stories through play and props, we especially have enjoyed 'jack and the beanstalk', 'the Gruffalo', 'little red riding hood' and 'three billy goats gruff'. We have re-told the stories through exploring new experiences and using autumnal materials we have collected from our garden.

We have enjoyed lots of messy play and made various creations out of materials. We used different autumnal colours to paint and create our own autumn tree.

We have loved small world especially dinosaurs and have created our own kingdom using resources available🦖.

What a wonderful start to our Autumn term we've had! We've been incredibly busy exploring outdoors and enjoying the lovely sunshine☀️.

Our topic has been 'All About Me' and 'People Who Help Us'. We've learned many new facts about ourselves and shared these through play. We've explored different professionals like healthcare workers, our teachers, and our grown-ups and friends, recognising how we all help one another🥰.

We've also noticed the signs of autumn, such as leaves falling from trees and acorns, and we've explored these through stories and play. We particularly enjoyed 'The Gruffalo' and are looking forward to our storytime with 'The Gruffalo Granny'.

There's lots more exciting learning ahead of us this half term 🍂

We have had such fun during our holiday club days this summer.

We have been out on lots of adventures; to the woods, play areas, shops, markets and more! We've had just as much fun at Preschool too.

As the end of our school term approaches we want to celebrate the wonderful year we have had. From lots of new learning opportunities, outings and visits from the community, we have been really lucky to see and explore what we have done this year

We have enjoyed visits from the dentist, fire service, vets, mini beasts, chicks. We loved an outing to the farm, library, church, local market and supermarkets. Our children have explored our Preschool community, and our confidence has grown🌳

We want to thank our wonderful families for their continuous support, and we will continue to grow as a preschool family☺️

At Martlesham Preschool we have focused our learning on 'Healthy Choices',

During the week we learnt about various fruits and vegetables, we explored where these grow, what they need to grow, and we even tasted them🍎🫑🥕

We visited the local fruit and vegetable market where we picked produce to try with our peers during our afternoon snack time. They were delicious😊

We are watching our own caterpillars grow into butterflies🐛🦋
So we read the story of the hungry caterpillar, and then explored the food the hungry caterpillar ate, and even fed them ourselves.

We have had a lovely week of learning all about staying healthy😊
