We went on an adventure to find a bear!🐻

The children enjoyed walking through the woods where we found bear fur, and even saw people who told us where they had seen a bear.

We also looked for signs of spring🌷 where the children had the opportunity to investigate the different flowers which we saw.

We have introduced spring this week by exploring different environments 🌳

We have spaces left for our Easter Holiday Clubs on Tuesday 15th April and Wednesday 16th April 2025. Spaces will be issued on a first come, first serve basis, and is open to children 2-5 years.

Please note: Once the booking is received we will make contact with you for any additional information then send an invoice, it is only once your payment is received that your child's space is secured.

The holiday club will run 9am-3pm on these days at a cost of £39.00 per day. The children will require a packed lunch and drinks bottle.

This week we have enjoyed learning about those who help us☺️

We had two very special visits from local services:
-The Fire Brigade 🚒
-Suffolk Police👮

First, the children spoke with the officers about what they do to help us. The children were then given the chance to look inside their vehicles, and try on their uniform. It was an amazing way for the children to speak about what they wish to do when they grow up💭

Here at Martlesham Preschool, we encourage our children to feel confident speaking and expressing how they feel. It is a great way to have empathy and respect for ourselves and others🥰

We find it supports our children to develop an understanding of the world around us🌎

We have looked into the story of the colour monster and have learnt all about different emotions we may feel. The children had the chance to make their own monsters, to show how they were feeling☺️

Lots of parents ask us what their child should be able to do in readiness for school.

Free dinosaur experience coming to Ipswich Waterfront this weekend A free dinosaur invasion will be coming to Ipswich Waterfront on Sunday, March 9, near the observation wheel.

‘Aye Aye Captain’ 🏴‍☠️

For world book day we had a special visit from pirates. They had left behind some belongings for us, and even hid some treasure in the garden. The children had the chance to make their own pirate scenes, they then made treasure maps to help us find the treasure outside. Then we finished our day of learning with a pirate story📖

The children were so excited and engaged☺️

We wonder when the pirates will return…💭

Shrove’s Tuesday 🥞

Today at Martlesham Preschool we loved making pancakes, flipping them and even trying them. The children had great fun exploring different textures, learning how pancakes are made, and even the way they taste.

We enjoyed reading the story ‘mr wolf’s pancakes’ to prepare for world book day 📕

The children loved learning the meaning of pancake day☺️

At Martlesham Preschool, we are always reflecting on our children’s interests, and our practice. To enhance on our continuous provision we have implemented some new learning areas. 🐷 🎶 🚗

‘There’s no such thing as a gruffalo’ 🍃

This week at Martlesham Preschool, we have given the children the opportunity to retell and learn even more about one of our favourite stories, ‘The Gruffalo’ 🌳

We carried out a craft where we could make our own interpretations of The Gruffalo. The children loved using terminology from the book to describe his body parts. 🐭
