Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu taught for self-defence, confidence, fitness and for fun in Ipswich, Suffolk. Lessons start in January 2022 on Monday 10th.

Wing Chun Kung Fu is a fast, close range martial art where technique is more important than raw strength. Join us and learn an exciting form of self-defence that will give you the self-confidence to pursue any ambitions. The Ipswich Wing Chun Kung Fu Association is open to all adults who want to learn this traditional form of self-defence. All lessons are on Monday evenings at 19:00 until 21:00. V

My name is Anthony Archer, I have been studying traditional Wing Chun for almost 19 years. I originally trained in Clacton under Master Frank Roach for 11 years, while there I also taught weekly classes for five years to students of all ages and skill levels. Once I moved to Ipswich I began training under Master Matthew Robins of Evergreen Hall Kung Fu and also in the role of Assistant Instructor. With the decision to close the school in 2021 I have decided to continue on my Kung Fu journey by running my own classes here in Ipswich. Students will learn hand to hand, ground defence, self defence strategies, fighting chi sau, defence against weapons all the other main aspects of Wing Chun kung fu. While making new friends and developing the discipline, awareness and skills that will enable them to confidently keep themselves safe in our modern society. Costs and clothing. The first two lessons are free for new students and we welcome all skill, fitness and experience levels. Lessons can be paid for in two ways, by monthly direct debit the cost is £25 pcm. For students who wish to pay by the lesson, the fee is £10 per session. Medical conditions:
As the main Instructor I am a qualified first aider and also have a full DBS certificate. If you have any existing needs or medical conditions please let me know. This information will be kept in confidence and any physical needs will be accommodated as best as is practicable. We are a fully inclusive club and open to students of all races, gender identities and walks of life. The venue has easy access and a large bathroom available should it be needed for changing clothing or other needs. I am also insured as required to run a martial arts club.

A big well done to David for his Grade 1, Nick for Grade 4 part 1 and Jason for his Grade 8. Everyone smashed it and thank you to Master Matt for along to assess them.

Congratulations to Adrian and Christopher who both earned their Grade 2. Sam smashed the first half of Grade 7, well done!
In other news, I passed my Grade 8. A really good night for all involved.

2025 Update:

Come and learn Kung Fu.
The club is based at the Scout Hall on 330 Bramford Rd, Ipswich IP1 5AX. Lessons are Mondays 19:00-21:00.
For new students the first two lessons are free!
***Pricing from April 2025*** Lessons can be paid for in two ways, by monthly direct debit the cost is £30 pcm. For students who wish to pay by the lesson, the fee is £12 per session. For direct debit please send money on the first of the month, details given upon request (PM me).

There is no required uniform or specific clothing. Generally, students are encouraged to wear ‘gym’ style clothing (such as joggers, t-shirt and jumper) with supportive footwear/trainers.
