Vikings on Tour- Welsh Championships at Pontipool. 1. A big tarpaulin is always useful for some in-room ski prep. 2 and 3 The normal carpark was being used for the Tour of Britain team base so it was a decent walk with gear to get to slope. A cart came in very handy. 4 and 5 bikes and bike cops (Sgt ´Ditch’ from Felixstowe) 6. featuring on the Ineos instagram with our G masks and 7 a bit of racing

Sprint World Cup Globe, Classic World Cup Globe, Parallel 🥉and Overall World Cup Globe, what a spectacular achievement, well done Jaz.

28/03/2025

With only the Parallel Sprint to go tomorrow, looks line Jaz has the Globe in Classic, Sprint and Overall. She is only 10 points behind the leader in Parallel Sprint so a full sweep of the Crystalware is not beyond the realms of possibility

ERSA Summer League Overall Prizes. This year, because of the rescheduled Hemel race and the badly timed Norwich ERSA, the overall prizes were calculated on the best three results instead of 4. For our committed Vikings racers who turn up to most races this worked against, them but let’s not dwell on that, but instead celebrate the fantastic results which took us to third overall club, second children’s team and the following individual podiums.
Harriet U12 3rd plus 3rd overall mini (not bad for a first year U12)
Esme U14 3rd
Oscar U14 3rd
Madeleine U16 1st
Hans U18 2nd
Alex MA2 1st
Katherine MA1 1st
Bev MA3 1st
Chris MA4 1st
and boding well for her transition to big poles next season Sofia was 2nd overall from the minis top 16 shootout over the season.

On Sunday we had a modest but deadly team of Vikings raiding into Essex for the final leg of the ERSA Summer League.
Brentwood is a difficult slope for those not familiar with it. Any mistakes mid section are punished and if you can’t generate speed through the turns on the flat you can loose seconds, not just tenths.
There were so many good performances with newcomers Molly, Imogen and Betsy finding their feet and putting in some solid runs.
In the U12 Sofia skied very well into 3rd, She also made it through to the semi finals in the U12 top 16.
Esme continued her U14 podium run with a 3rd and
in the boys Oscar scored a 3rd.
Madeleine was another Bronze winner, 0.25 off double act Antonia and Mille who drew for first.
Next up on the podium was Hans with a 2nd in U18, then Alex 2nd in MAS2, Bev 1st in MAS3 and a very big congrats to Phil with his first win in MAS4. Chris was a close second, feeling pleased that he now has a team mate to push him.
Team racing was next and the Children’s A of Madeleine, Josh, Oscar, Esme and Kitty were within a whisker of repeating their victory at our home race. They just missed out in a very close final with Norfolk.
In the top 16 minis, Sofia was a semi finalist, Madeleine lost out in the semis and Alex was leading in the final of the men’s top 16 all the way to the last gate where he somehow got his pole between his legs and straddled.
We are so lucky to be part of ERSA where the level of competition is incredible. In most categories you are up against National Champions so, even though this is a regional race, if you are competitive in ERSA you will still be right up there in Club Nationals, GBRs and national races.

It took Madeleine a few runs to get the hang of Hillend on her first visit, the bit that looks ‘flat’ at the end is the same steepness as our home slope.
Thanks to advice and encouragement from the generous Norwich crew, she finally plucked up courage to take the brakes off on her last try and managed 4th fastest overall on that run

Another great Vikings on Tour performance. Due to the change of date, we only had 10 Vikings at the Hemel ERSA but they managed to win 11 medals. All the usual suspects podiumed - Chris, Alex, Bev and Katherine, but special mentions go to Molly with her very first medal 🥉in U8, Esme continuing her winning streak with a 🥈in U14, George, always fast on the cold stuff with an impressive🥈U14, and Hans climbing onto the top step for the first time in U18.
