Playing with puzzles is important for toddlers because it provides various benefits for their development. It helps develop their fine motor skills. Puzzles help improve hand-eye coordination and manipulation of small pieces. It encourages problem-solving skills, solving puzzles encourages critical thinking and logical reasoning. It helps with spatial awareness, understanding shapes and fitting pieces together enhances spatial skills. It helps with their concentration and attention span as completing puzzles requires focus and patience and it helps to develop language and communication. When raising a toddler, it’s essential to give them things to do that help them grow and develop physically. Balancing activities is an excellent way to do it! From mastering the art of crawling and walking to more advanced skills like jumping and running, these exercises can help improve your coordination and balance.
Balancing activities for toddlers serve as a helpful means for their navigation and mobility within the world. Plus, these activities can boost confidence and self-esteem as they conquer new challenges.

We did a colour matching activity this week using cones, rings and beanbags. Toddlers learn well through movement and play, so learning colours with gross motor activities is a lot of fun for them while they learn!

Happy Father's Day to all our Daddy's at Little Bones
The children loved making their cards, printing with sponges and paint, choosing the colours, They also really enjoyed making the keyrings, from making the dough, rolling it out, using the stencils to cut out the letter D, putting them in the oven to bake and then painting and glossing them afterwards. They found threading the letters on to the rings a little tricky which was a great challenge for them to develop their fine motor skills and also to ask for help if they needed it. We had a great conversation about it being absolutely okay to ask for help and that everybody needs help sometimes. We hope all the Daddy's loved their presents that their children worked so hard on making.

Children start to learn to write by 'mark making' with scribbles and patterns. It is the start of a journey towards being able to write and is a real developmental milestone.
Mark making is important for many reasons. It is a visible way for children to tell stories and express feelings, record what they have to say, solve problems and discover solutions - and sometimes it is just an outlet for pure physical enjoyment.
As well as early writing, mark-making can develop into mathematical representation and creative expression. However, mark-making is not just about early writing; it is a sensory and physical experience which can be enjoyed by all ages and abilities.
