To Celebrate Chinese new year (The Year of the Dragon) the Sunflowers had lots of fun making a dragon, using chopsticks, copying Chinese writing and trying Chinese food ๐ฅข๐.Daisies enjoyed making Chinese Lanterns, using red paint and glitter to decorate them ๐ฎ.The Poppies really enjoyed dressing up as a dragon, using chopsticks in the role play area and practicing Hร nzรฌ writing ๐
This week we have been celebrating National Food Day! โบ๏ธ
The Sunflowers have been busy making some yummy beetroot brownies to try! They have also been pretending to make their favourite sandwiches in the playdough! ๐ซ๐ฐ๐ฅช
Poppies have explored the paint using a variety of fruits to experiment with different patterns.๐๐๐
Daisies have been using spoons and bowls to practice their scooping and pouring using dried cereal, we practiced pouring by making cups of tea and 'cooking food'. ๐ฅ๐ฅฃ
We have been busy celebrating National Library Week with lots of story related activities! We have created our own aliens from the 'Alien's love underpants' story ๐and have mixed our own porridges in Goldilocks' porridge making station as well as re-enacting the 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' story in our textured malleable tray๐ป
The Daisies have loved getting creative and messy making their very own hungry caterpillars๐
โ ๏ธ๐ดThis week we have celebrated International Talk like a pirate day" ๐ดโ ๏ธ
While in the garden Sunflowers have enjoyed making a pirate ship in the garden steering with a large bicycle wheel โ๏ธโต๏ธ
We created our own treasure maps by staining our paper with tea bags and coffee discussing what we could smell ๐๐บ
We decorated our circle biscuits as golden coins and explored the sensory rice to go on our very own treasure hunt! ๐
To celebrate Roald Dahl Week we have been experimenting and mixing our own Marvellous Medicines! We explored how colours changed when mixed together!
We created our own chocolate factory making chocolate playdough to squash and squeeze into shape ๐ซ
We ended the week with James and the Giant Peach insect hunts outside and was very excited to find some snails to hold and look after!๐๐๐ท

๐ป๐จ๐ปโ๐จThe Sunflowers have enjoyed expressing their own style and ideas with some Tie-Dye! We explored the different colours discussing how they were changing when mixed together!๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐จ๐ป

๐ป๐ฅThe Sunflowers have enjoyed harvesting the potatoes we have been growing in the garden. The children were very excited to see that some really big potatoes had grown too! ๐ฅ๐ป
๐ป๐๐ฆWe also found some snails and watched the butterflies as they flew from plant to plant ๐ฆ๐๐ป

๐๐We have had lots of fun taking part in our Sports Day! The children all did very well with the Hurdles, Egg and Spoon, Running races as well as a Bean Bag Throw!๐๐

๐ฆ๐ฆ๐This week we have celebrated Dinosaur Day! We have explored frozen dinosaur eggs using our hands and tools to try breaking the dinosaurs free, stomped our favourite dinosaurs in paint to experiment with mixing colours and making footprints on a large floor painting! We even got the opportunity to see some fossils that a child shared from home with us! ๐๐ฆ๐ฆ
๐ฆ๐ฆDaisies had fun making dinosaur tracks by dipping the dinosaurs feet into different coloured paints.๐ฆ๐ฆ
๐This week we have been celebrating World Bee Day! We have used finger painting to print and make our own bee paintings, dressing up as bumblebee's planted bee friendly flowers in our garden and discussed why bees are so important for our environments!๐
๐National Library Week ๐
๐ปSunflowers have been celebrating by practicing our chopping skills using children's knives to cut fruit and used their spoons to add and mix ingredients to make Gruffalo Crumble biscuits. We have made our own Library cards and joined in with our Library and book shop role play๐ป
In poppies we have been practicing and recognising our numbers placing numbers 1-10 on Jack's beanstalk. We also have been practicing noticing hard and soft items and so making porridge for Goldilocks and the three bears ๐ป
๐ฐ๐ฃWe have all enjoyed a variety of Easter Activities throughout the setting! From making Easter cakes for our party, going on an egg hunt outside, making Easter bonnets at home to share for our parade and crafts throughout the week! ๐ฐ๐ฃ
๐๐ป๐๐ฟโโ๏ธ๐ช๐ปThe Poppies have transformed their role play area into Poppies Gym, they have explored a variety of ways to move and discuss how their bodies were feeling after exercise๐ช๐๐ฝ๐๐พโโ๏ธ
๐๐WORLD BOOK DAY!
The Sunflowers enjoyed a trip to Waterstones to exchange some of our book tokens, we discussed the different shops on the way and spoke about the directions and routes we would need to walk! We have drawn our own illustrations for stories and re enacted The Gruffalo in a Gruffalo Crumble malleable tray.
Poppies have been making fruit kebabs for the hungry caterpillar story and practising our cutting skills with the knives, they have been making their own book marks. Sunflowers and Poppies also enjoyed visiting our role play library taking in turns to read each other stories
Daisies have been exploring different fruits from the Handa's Surprise story and a Dear Zoo story tray enveloping, posting and opening parcels from the Zoo!๐๐
๐ฅWe have had lots of fun celebrating Shrove Tuesday/Pancake Day this week! The Sunflowers have been making their own pancake mixes in the malleable tray, listening to Mr Wolf's Pancakes story as well as picking their own toppings for our Pancake Snack! The Poppies have been practicing their pancake flipping and Daisies have tried scooping and mixing their pancake ingredients!๐ฅ
โค๏ธ๐We have all enjoyed celebrating Valentine's Day this week ๐โค๏ธ We have taken part in lots of arts and crafts, sending and receiving cards from each other! We have discussed about a range of emotions and feelings, talking about what makes us feel loved and how we could show or let others know our feelings ๐
A big THANK YOU to our families who were able to come and join the children and staff for our Valentine's Lunch! We loved having you here! ๐
๐This week we have been celebrating Send a card to a friend day! The Sunflowers turned their roleplay into a Post Office to send lots of cards to their friends and family!
The Poppies decorated beautiful cards to deliver to their friends in Sunflowers and Daisies!
Daisies have been decorating lots of lovely cards and letters with stampers and crayons to send to each other! ๐
๐ปThis week the Sunflowers have enjoyed taking part in National Storytelling Week! We have taken part in a variety of activities from number recognition on our alien underpants, hanging them on small and large washing lines, going on a bear hunt in our malleable tray feeling and exploring different textures! We have also been painting our own story illustrations! ๐๐๐ป

๐งฉFor National Puzzle Day we have enjoyed a variety of different puzzles, we tried 8,12,16 and even a 26 piece alphabet puzzle. The Sunflowers worked together to problem solve and communicate different ways they could experiment with he pieces to fit them into place! Good Work Sunflowers!
The Daisies and Poppies have been experimenting with the inset puzzle boards and shape sorters, passing each other pieces to try and fit into the correct shapes! Well Done Daisies & Poppies!๐งฉ
๐ฒ๐จ๐ณ๐ This week we have taken part in lots of activities to celebrate Chinese New Year! We have been helping to decorate a dragon head for our parade, tea making, noodles and rice malleable trays, making red and gold playdough๐๐จ๐ณ๐ฒ
We even got to have a turn using a Chinese Lion head for our parade which was shared by one of our families from home!!๐ฆ
๐ฅข๐ฅ ๐We have all enjoyed trying a variety of different foods such as, Vegetable Spring Rolls, Prawn Crackers, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Noodles ๐๐ฅ ๐ฅข
๐ปThe Sunflowers children have helped to celebrate MLK Day today by discussing their different dreams and ideas for the world, we spoke about being kind to everyone and how we can help others, we have had lots of stories about being kind to others and talking about different feelings๐ป
