We set up a 'Food Stand' that sells all the traditional bonfire snacks, we have watched firework displays, built "bonfires", talked about bonfire safety, made edible "sparklers" for snack as well as lots more firework themed activities.๐๐งจ๐
The Daisies had lots of fun dressing up, making pumpkin shaped jam tarts and dancing to Halloween music for our Halloween party ๐

We have taken part in a variety of food activities, we have explored different textures in the jelly play, flour play, custard play, cooked pasta malleable tray. We have also taken part in a variety of cooking activities, we made, Calzones, Gingerbread men, Shortbread biscuits and fruit kebabs for snack๐๐ ๐๐ป
๐งโ๐๐๐The Sunflowers celebrated '999 Day', we discussed different emergency services and how they help us, we also used the emergency vehicles and small world models to print and look at the different tyre tracks and footprints they made on their paper ๐ฎโโ๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ๐

๐ธ๐๐๐It's been cooking week in Poppies! The children have been making lots of food using a variety of utensils to make pizza, cakes and fruit kebabs as well as having some fruity sensory water play and using real food for role play๐๐ซ๐ซ๐ธ
๐ผ๐ข๐The Daisies have been celebrating World animal day exploring a malleable tray with couscous, lentils, flour and pasta pieces. They made some animal sounds while moving the animals through the different resources and listening to the pasta crunching as they stamped๐๐๐ผ

Sunflowers helped to empty out all of the sand from the sandpit ready for a new liner to be added!
They all grabbed a shovel, a ladle or even just got stuck in with their hands and worked hard to scoop up as much as they could!

๐ผThis week the Daisies have been practicing their walking skills, becoming more confident and independent with every step! Well Done Daisies!! ๐ผ
๐ป๐The Sunflowers have been pretending to make pizza in the role play area. We then made some real pizza, we made the pizza dough together and then kneaded it out and added on the toppings they wanted. The Sunflowers did really well with using spoons to spread and knives to cut their vegetables!๐๐ป

๐ป๐นThe Sunflowers and Poppies children enjoyed a visit from some Guinea Pigs "Honey" and "Matilda"! ๐น๐ป
We spoke before the visit about how we thought they would look, feel and sound like, we looked online at different types of Guinea Pigs and predicted together what colour we thought they would be and how their hair would look. The children were all very excited to have a turn holding and stoking them gently and feeding them some Dill and Spinach leaves๐น๐ฟ๐ฑ
๐ปThe Sunflowers have been very interested in People Who Help Us recently, we took on many different occupations from Paramedics, Ambulance drivers, Doctors, Nurses, Vets, Refuse collectors, Sea animal ice rescuers, Fire fighters and Police officers. The children explored and enjoyed sharing different outfits that were shared from home from their parents professions too!๐ฎโโ๏ธ๐ท๐งโโ๏ธ๐ฉโ๐พ๐ฉโ๐๐งโ๐ฌ
๐ดโโ ๏ธThe Sunflowers have taken on the roles of Pirates this week, we have enjoyed constructing our own pirate ship while playing outside, we made and decorated our own flag as well as pretending to mend the ship and going on an adventure to "Big River Island๐
We made our own pirate maps using coffee and tea to stain our paper then writing on our own directions to find the hidden treasure! ๐ดโโ ๏ธ
The Sunflowers Room enjoyed celebrating Roald Dahl day throughout the week! We took part in lots of Roald Dahl story inspired activities, we made Bruce's chocolate cake from Matilda, mixed and experimented with our own medicine making trays from George's Marvellous Medicine. We took part in a large floor painting activity illustrating our own stories.
This week the Daisies celebrated Roald Dahl week collaging (James and the giant peach), painting (the enormous crocodile), dipping bananas in chocolate, making marks in playdough that had sequins in (Charlie and the chocolate factory), making their own medicines (George's marvellous medicine) and scooping up spaghetti using various utensils (The Twits).
To celebrate Edinburgh fringe festival the Daisies decorated a kilt with the tartan patterned paper.
๐ป๐๐To celebrate the Nottinghill Carnival, Sunflowers have enjoyed making a tropical fruit salad, we spoke about how the fruits look, smell and felt on the outside and then we predicted what we thought they would be like inside๐๐๐
โคThe Sunflowers enjoyed sharing this with the other rooms in the nursery for tea and tasting all of the different yummy fruits they had cut up all by themselvesโค
โ๐งThe Sunflowers and Poppies enjoyed cooling down in the sprinkler pool last week, they took it in turns to go in and feel the cool water on their skin, they all helped each other to get in and out and gave each other lots of support and encourage me throughout cheering each other along, they held the hands of their peers who were a little unsure at first โคโ
The daisies have enjoyed making marks in the coloured powder paint using various brushes and spoons to scoop up the powder to put into the buckets.๐จ
๐ปTo celebrate the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this week the Sunflowers have enjoyed doing some large chalk drawing and water painting while outside on the pavements, they've explored the chalks and using their hands to blend the colours together as well as making hand prints on the pavements, we spoke about how the sun was drying up the water while we were painting๐จ๐
The Sunflowers then wanted to explore movements so we made a hop scotch outside using the chalky and took it in turns to take part jumping on one foot then onto two๐ป
๐ป๐ฑ๐The Sunflowers room have been interested in looking at how our vegetables and herbs have been growing outside and were very keen to help pick and harvest the beans and basil that were ready.
They developed their fine motor skills to pop and peel open the bean pods, finding them inside, they were very surprised to see they were pink!
We are going to enjoy having these cooked in our lunch and really enjoyed the Basil today, even Bonsai the rabbit had some to nibble on! ๐๐ฑ๐ป

๐ปThe Sunflowers have enjoyed using the colours from the flag of Ethiopia to celebrate Haile Selassie's birthday. We have explored colour mixing and patterns that we have made using brushes and rollers.
The Sunflowers have been exploring the Chickpea malleable tray, mashing crunching , popping and squashing the chickpeas with mashers, knives, whisks and bowls ๐ป
๐ปThe Sunflowers room have been discussing different feelings and emotions this week, we used some clingfilm around the tables and different coloured paints to draw self-portraits and portraits of our peers and adding different emotions on to them discussing how they feel and what might of made them feel that way, we have spoken about being happy, sad, frustrated, excited, ecstatic, afraid, worried, nervous and anxious๐ป
The Daisies have been taking turns enjoying mixing the ingredients together to make banana and Yoghurt muffins. They were happy to take them home to show their parents and eat them.๐๐ฐ
๐ป๐The Sunflowers have been interested in science and experiments this week, the children saw a video of lava lamps and wanted to try making some of their own, we used coloured water, oil, glitter and sequins. The children used the funnels and spoons to add the oil and glitter. He sunflowers poured the coloured water into the bottles using the funnels ๐ฌ๐ป
The Poppies celebrated Independence Day by doing some red,white and blue weaving and learning to line dance ๐บ๐ธ
๐ป๐ด๐๐The Sunflowers have enjoyed taking part in some fruit and vegetable cutting today using different tools, they've used knives, forks and scissors to try cutting and to improve our cutlery skills. We spoke about how the different fruits and vegetables feel, look and smell. We also discussed the different ways they looked when cut in different directions๐๐ ๐ด๐ป
The Daisies enjoyed paint week this week, making marks on the white board, painting their own hands and feet, free paiting and using utensils to watch the effects made on the cling film with paint underneath it.
๐ปThe Sunflowers have shown lots of interest in flowers and plants recently, we made a florist roleplay where they took it in turns to take on the roles and occupations of a shop keeper, florist and customer. They used money to buy their flowers, they picked which flowers they wanted in their bouquet, they then made them for their peers to buy๐ป
๐ธ๐นโThe children then placed all of the flowers into a "vase" and laid down some material to sit on an look at, smell and feel the different flowers. We found some paper and pencils and started a Still Life Art session drawing what we could seeโ๐น๐ธ

๐๐๐๐The Sunflowers have expressed a lot of interest in Transport today, we made some traffic survey's and headed out to see what transport we could spot, we tallied up how many we had seen on our charts. We were very excited when some of the drivers waved at us as they went past ๐๐๐๐
๐๐ดโช๐ตWe have enjoyed doing lots of activities to celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee, we have made our own crowns, made crown shaped biscuits, painted the Union Jack Flags, decorated the front garden ready for our afternoon tea street party where we even had a visit from the Queen!!
