Our small-group Maths sessions are designed for students who would benefit from some extra support, need more challenge or simply learn better in a smaller group 💜

There are no more than five students in each group, and while they are working together, they don’t all complete the same work. Each student follows their own programme, based on their individual level and what they need to work on next.

During the 40-minute session, students complete a range of activities, with their mentor at the table ready to explain anything they are unsure about and provide help when needed.

It means students can revisit gaps, practise new skills and move forward at a pace that is right for them, while still enjoying the benefits of learning alongside others

Our summer programme is coming to an end this week, and we’ve had so much fun working through loads of different activities ☀️

These clips show just a small selection of what our students have been doing over the summer. They’ve practised their Maths and English skills in lots of different ways, revisited previous learning and tackled some completely new activities too.

It’s been lovely to see how their work has developed across the programme and how they’ve applied what they know to each new challenge.

It has a brilliant way to keep learning going over the summer before the new term begins 💜

A simple way to make maths feel less overwhelming is to cover up the questions a child isn’t working on yet 📝

A page full of calculations can feel like a lot, particularly when children are settling back into learning after the summer. Using a blank piece of paper to hide the rest of the page allows them to focus on just one question at a time.

At MagiKats, we often break work down into smaller, manageable steps. It doesn’t change the maths, but it can make it feel much easier to approach 💜

Once one question is finished, simply move the paper down and reveal the next one. A small change, but one that can help children work more calmly and independently.

For some children, getting back into learning as the Summer ends can take a little time ☀️

In our MagiKats sessions, we don’t expect students to rush straight in or get everything right immediately. We let them settle at their own pace and begin with something manageable where they can ask for help whenever they need it. This allows them to build their confidence over time, without feeling rushed.

This student was working on an activity involving gradients, where they were practising how to use coordinates to calculate different gradients of lines.

A new term doesn’t have to begin with pressure. Sometimes, a calm and steady start is exactly what a child needs 💜

Even though it’s the summer holidays, our students have been working super hard!

Our older GCSE students have been brushing up on their graph skills the last couple of weeks, looking at how they can plot different graphs and interpret information from them 📈

And, as always, our fun activities that go alongside the worksheets have been extremely popular!

We’re halfway through the summer holidays already! ☀️

Our summer programme wall has been gradually filling up over the last few weeks, so we thought it was time to show off some of the fantastic work our younger students have been doing.

We’ve had lots of different activities alongside our usual Maths and English work, giving the children plenty of opportunities to practise their skills, get creative and keep those brains ticking over during the long summer break.

And we’re only halfway through… there’s still plenty more to come!

We love seeing the wall get a little fuller every week and, most importantly, seeing how proud the children are when their work goes up 💜

Is your child finding schoolwork a struggle?

They don’t need hours of tutoring or a miracle fix. They need consistent practice that feels manageable, encouraging and part of everyday life.

That’s how MagiKats works. We help children build their maths and English skills through small, regular steps, with work matched to their individual level, that adds up to real progress and a growth in their confidence 💜

We aim to make learning a positive and engaging experience, where children feel supported and able to succeed.

Keeping skills ticking over during the summer doesn’t need to mean sitting down for long lessons or completing pages of worksheets.

Just 10–15 minutes of reading, spelling or number practice can help children revisit familiar skills and maintain their confidence without making the holiday feel like school.

It could be:

📖 Reading a few pages of a book together
🔤 Practising five spellings
➕ Trying a quick number challenge
🛒 Working out costs or change while shopping

A little and often approach leaves plenty of time for rest, play and summer adventures, while helping children feel more prepared when they return to school.
