Macbeth: Blood & Bluegrass by The Barden Party is a critically acclaimed musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic play. Set to a score of Americana and bluegrass music, this version of the bard’s tale blends classic literature with a modern twist alongside original arrangements of the music of Mumford and Sons, Dolly Parton and The SteelDrivers, to create an emotional, accessible, toe-tapping theatrical experience.
The work was devised and developed in Wellington, New Zealand and toured around NZ and Australia from November 2024 to March 2025, winning Best Theatre Week 2 at the Adelaide Fringe Festival and receiving multiple five-star reviews along the way. The Barden Party then brought the production to The Edinburgh Fringe in August 2025, where it received five-star reviews from Theatre Weekly, Musical Theatre and The Recs, along with standing ovations from audiences.

We were disappointed to discover on Saturday that the newly replaced section of the resin path had been damaged by someone bypassing the cordon and allowing their children to walk on the surface.

The hall does not have unlimited funds for large projects like this and the path works were carried out to increase accessibility to the hall for those with mobility issues.

Please could we ask people to be more mindful of their surroundings and avoid areas which are cordoned off.

At Kemnay Village Hall on Wednesday 1st July.

Well what a night as SKIRLIE opened at MIDMAR. The stage was set, the lights came on and the audience laughter lifted the cast to new heights. Thank you all so much. Thanks also to our hosts at Midmar Hall who always make us feel so welcome. Restrictions to side path at Kemnay Village Hall.

The Hall is having work done on the side path at the Hall. We are very grateful to have received a grant towards this work which will allow the slabs to be uplifted and replaced with gravel bound resin. This will allow smoother access to the rear of the Hall, especially helping those with mobility issues and indeed everyone who dislikes getting their feet wet when it rains as there should no longer be any puddling.

At short notice the work has begun today and access between the road and the side door may be restricted. The side door can still be accessed from the rear (steps end) of the property. Any queries please email [email protected]

For safety reasons there may also be restrictions to folk who simply use the path rather than accessing the Hall for the next while.
