⭐️ C E L E B R A T I N G S U C C E S S A S S E M B L I E S ⭐️

Bruce 🐻, Glennie 🐊, Telford 🐅, Slessor 🦈, and Wallace 🐺 Houses held their end-of-term Celebration of Success Assemblies on Thursday.

Our young people were recognised for their outstanding subject achievements and sporting success. The new House Captains played an important role in supporting the Pastoral Care team in leading the assemblies.

Congratulations to all our award recipients and to everyone who contributed to making these celebrations such a special occasion. We are incredibly proud of your achievements and look forward to seeing your continued success.

Towards the end of term, young people in S4 took part in a Mock Interview. This was part of the employability skills work they have been working on in Tutor Time and PSE. Many thanks to the following businesses who gave up their time to support this initiative:

R O Y A L I N S T I T U T I O N Y O U T H S U M M I T

On Thursday 7th October ten Meldrum Academy senior pupils were attending the Royal Instuitution Youth Summit organised by Techfest. Pupils were taking part in discussions and workshops on the topic of time, which will be the theme of this year’s Christmas Lecture. By discussing ‘How we experience time’, ‘How we measure time’ and ‘Is time travel possible?’ pupils could deepen their understanding of challenging concepts such as space-time and time dilation based on their learning in the AH Physics course. They were a credit to our school in the discussions with other young people from the North-East of Scotland by considering different perspectives and they confidently expressed their own views. Most importantly, their voices will be heard – discussions from the Youth Summits will help inform the Royal Institution’s 2026 Christmas Lectures which will be delivered in December by theoretical physicist, broadcaster and author Professor Jim Al-Khalili and broadcast on BBC.

L E A D E R S H I P I N A C T I O N

On Thursday, 27 of our S6 young people with leadership responsibilities took part in an engaging leadership development session delivered in partnership with the Army.
Working through a challenging forensic science investigation, pupils developed and demonstrated key skills in leadership, communication, problem solving and teamwork as they worked together to identify the culprit.
A huge thank you to the Army team for their support, expertise and delivery of such an exciting and rewarding experience. Well done to all our S6 participants for their enthusiasm, collaboration and determination throughout the day, and congratulations to all the teams who successfully solved the investigation! 👏

Young people from Skills for Learning Life and Work class were joined by young people from Refresh and went to Peterhead Prison Museum as part of our study on Crime and Punishment through the ages.
