Why Relationships Matter in Tutoring
Tutoring is about so much more than subject knowledge.
Children learn best when they feel safe, understood and comfortable enough to ask questions. Building positive relationships can make all the difference to confidence, engagement and progress.
At My Primary and Secondary Tutor, we carefully match tutors and pupils because we know that finding the right fit matters.

Encouraging a Growth Mindset at Home
As parents, it's difficult watching our children struggle with something they find challenging.
But sometimes, a small change in language can make a big difference.
Moving from "I can't do this" to "I can't do this yet" helps children understand that learning takes time and that mistakes are part of the process.
Confidence grows when children recognise that they can overcome challenges with support, practice and perseverance.

The Biggest Fears Teachers Have About Starting Tutoring
"I'd love to start tutoring, but..."
I've heard those words countless times.
Fear is completely normal when you're considering something new.
The good news? Most successful tutors started with exactly the same doubts and worries.
In today's Tutor Business Academy Sunday, I'm talking about the fears that often hold teachers back and why confidence comes from taking action.
👇 If you're a teacher, what's the biggest thing that's stopping you from starting tutoring?
Stop Buying Workbooks
A controversial opinion perhaps...
Children don't necessarily need piles of workbooks over the summer holidays.
Real learning happens through conversations, experiences, problem-solving and applying knowledge in everyday life.
In today's Summer Learning Saturday, I'm sharing why understanding is far more important than simply completing pages of questions.
And if your child would benefit from some additional support this summer, we still have a range of 1:1 and small group sessions available.
👇 Are you team workbook or team real-world learning?
How We Match Pupils with Tutors
Finding the right tutor isn't just about finding someone who teaches the subject.
It's about finding someone who understands the child.
At My Primary and Secondary Tutor, we carefully consider personality, learning needs, goals and confidence levels when recommending a tutor.
In today's video, I'm taking you behind the scenes of how we make those matches.
👇 Did you ever have a teacher who made a real difference in your life?
Children Don't All Need the Same Thing
Every child learns differently.
Some need more time.
Some need more practice.
Some simply need something explained in a different way.
In today's Karen's Thoughts, I'm sharing why recognising what a child needs is often more important than expecting them to fit a particular mould.
👇 Has your child ever had a moment where something finally clicked because it was explained differently?
Celebrating Small Wins
Not every success comes with a certificate or a test result.
Sometimes the biggest wins are the smallest ones.
A child putting their hand up in class.
A child attempting a question independently.
A child believing in themselves again.
Today's Winning Wednesday is all about celebrating progress in all its forms.
