📣📣Coronavirus (Covid 19) Update 📣📣

16th March 2020

Following a meeting of our Senior Management Team this morning, Inverness College UHI has decided to close the following facilities with immediate effect.

• Sheiling Training Restaurant – all bookings will be cancelled for the foreseeable future. Students will be directed by their lecturers regarding alternative coursework.

• The Fitness Suite will be closed to staff and students. The Sports Hall will remain open; however, no equipment is permitted. Students will be directed by their lecturers regarding alternative coursework.

• Hair and Beauty Salons – all treatments involving clients will be cancelled for the foreseeable future. Students will be directed by their lecturers regarding alternative coursework.

• Bréagha Commercial Salon – all treatments will be cancelled for the foreseeable future. Clients are in the process of being contacted.

This is a precautionary measure to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff and students. Above this, we intend to continue to operate as normal, as far as possible, this week.

However, this is a fast-paced and evolving situation and we anticipate making further announcements later today.

We appreciate this is a concerning time for everyone. However, we are continuing to monitor this situation closely and take all precautions in line with advice from Health Protection Scotland.

In the meantime, if you have an underlying health condition and are concerned for your own health, the health of someone close to you, or have developed symptoms consistent with COVID-19, including a new, continuous cough and/or high temperature, however mild, you should self-isolate.

Normal absence reporting procedures apply and student bursary payments will be unaffected.

Staff and students should continue to monitor their email, as well as the College’s social media channels, MyDay newsroom (students) and iConnect (staff).

• Host a ceilidh night here at Inverness College featuring Astar Youth Ceilidh Band
• Raise over £300 for Breast Cancer Now and Mikeysline & The Hive Project through a charity bake sale
• Get a student microwave in the Corrie
