Due to it being the Easter holidays, we’ve been a little quieter here at Nursery! But of course, we’ve still had lots of fun! 🥰

The children have enjoyed baking cakes, Easter crafts, Easter themed tuff trays and activities and spending lots of time in the lovely sunshine too! 🌞

In our Orchards Room we have been strengthening our speech and language skills by sharing familiar nursery rhymes and stories.

We have curated a wide range of activities to help children engage in open ended conversations with each other and staff members while keeping to rhymes we sing daily at nursery.

By singing rhymes this helps to learn new words, practise sounds, and develop listening and attention skills in a fun and engaging way. Using well-known rhymes also allows the children to join in with actions, repetition, and rhythm, which builds confidence and supports their communication skills.

We encourage singing your favourite rhymes at home, as this helps strengthens their language development further.

Chinese New Year 🧧🐉

This week at Nursery we have been celebrating Chinese New Year!

We have engaged in a range of different activities to help us learn about the celebration!

These activities includes:
• Chinese New Year craft
• Chinese food tasting
• Rice play
• Noodle play

The children loved using their senses to explore each of these activities as well as working on their fine and gross motor skills too!

We’ve had a lovely start to our New Year!

The Willows Room have welcomed lots of new babies this month. They have enjoyed building relationships with the staff members, making new friends and getting used to our new their new environment!

The Meadows have been focusing on the theme of Winter. The activities we planned included a variety of arts and crafts, physical development and communication and language. This encouraged the children to use their fine and gross motor skills, experiment with their senses and allowing them express their creativity.

The Orchards have been strengthening our speech and language skills by sharing familiar nursery rhymes and stories. The staff have curated a wide range of activities to help children engage in open ended conversations with each other and staff members while keeping to rhymes we sing daily at nursery. New toys! 🧸

We’ve recently had some new toys at nursery and the children have absolutely loved playing with these.

Included in these toys were some donations we received. These were old toys, laptops, phones and keyboards and a slide for our garden. These have been a firm favourite - so thank you so much for these gifted items!

The new toys we bought included magnetic blocks, magnatiles, stickle bricks, an ice cream stand for our role play area, a car garage, a tool bench and some books!

Due to the weather conditions and the warnings in place Nursery will potentially be opening at 9:00 tomorrow morning instead of 7:30. A decision will be made at 6:00AM so we will update you via email asap. Stay safe! ☃️

This week at Nursery, we have invited the parents for a festive coffee morning!

The Meadows had theirs on Monday of this week and it was so lovely to spend time chatting to parents and grandparents and for them to see what their child gets up to whilst their with us and to meet some of their friends and other parents too!

The children enjoyed Christmas colouring, a fine motor Christmas tree posting activity, the ball pit and Christmas music whilst their parents enjoye a mince pie and a hot drink!

A colourful week! 🌈

The Orchards have explored colours through Bonfire Night and firework topic. The children discovered bright reds, yellows, oranges, and sparkly blues, inspired by fireworks in the sky! They painted, mixed colours, and created shimmering pictures, helping the children express excitement and wonder through sensory, hands-on play. We have also explored colours through physical activities like the parachute, fine motor skills through colour sorting and mark making and expressed ourselves through arts and design! 🎨
