At Nursery Rhymes & Teacher Led Jabberwocky Pre-School, we offer childcare for children from 3 months to 5 years. We’d love to welcome you to our community. 💛

Located in the heart of Addingham village, Nursery Rhymes has been a trusted part of the community since 2001. We are an OFSTED-registered setting providing high-quality, nurturing childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years. Our setting is made up of four thoughtfully designed playrooms, each tailored to meet the developmental needs of the children in our care:

👶 Humpty Dumpty Room – A calm

and cosy space for pre-walkers, filled with sensory play, gentle routines and loving one-to-one care.
🚶‍♀️ Little Bo Peep’s Room – For our confident walkers under 2, where toddlers enjoy messy play, role-play, early friendships and routines that feel just like home.
🧸 Jack & Jill’s Room – A lively, curiosity-driven toddler room for 2–3 year olds, with hands-on exploration, creative expression and plenty of climbing, counting and conversation!
📚 Jabberwocky Pre-School – Our teacher-led provision for rising 5s, preparing children for school through rich learning experiences, structured routines and a focus on confidence and independence. Our team of passionate educators follow a bespoke curriculum based on the EYFS, enriched with music, movement, storytelling, outdoor learning and meaningful play. We pride ourselves on offering individualised care, strong parent partnerships, and a warm, inclusive environment where every child feels safe, supported and inspired to learn. In our latest OFSTED inspection (2023), we proudly maintained our “Good” rating — a standard we’ve upheld since opening in 2001.

🕰️ We are open Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 6:30pm, for 49 weeks of the year, closing only on public holidays, one week at Easter, the third week of August, and over Christmas and New Year. Come and see why so many families have made us their nursery of choice.

💜Our Nursery Team

Behind every story shared, every cuddle given, every carefully planned experience and every little milestone celebrated is our wonderful team of Early Years Educators. ✨

One of the things we are particularly proud of at Nursery Rhymes is the incredible amount of childcare experience held collectively within our team...almost 200 years! 💜

And that experience really matters.

It means our children are surrounded by educators who have spent years understanding how young children grow, develop, communicate, build relationships and learn through play. It brings confidence, knowledge and consistency to our practice, while allowing experienced educators to share their knowledge with those beginning and developing their own careers in Early Years.

Alongside this wealth of experience, our educators continue to learn too. Through qualifications, training, professional development and reflective practice, we make sure the care and education we provide continues to grow alongside the children we support. 🌱

💜 Discover Our Rooms

Children change so much during their early years and we believe their environment should grow with them.

At Nursery Rhymes, we have four thoughtfully designed playrooms, each created to support a different stage of early childhood. From our youngest babies beginning their nursery journey, through to our teacher-led Jabberwocky Pre-School preparing children for their next adventure, each room offers something a little different.

Our environments are carefully considered to encourage exploration, independence, confidence, curiosity and most importantly, lots of meaningful play.

💜 A Fresh New Look for Little Bo Peeps! 💜

We’ve been very busy behind the scenes during our shutdown week! Andrea and Keri, along with our incredible maintenance team, have been working hard giving both our Humpty Dumpty's and Little Bo Peeps rooms a lovely refresh ready for everyone returning. 🛠️✨

There are still a few finishing touches to complete in Humpty Dumpty's over the weekend, but Little Bo Peeps is finished, so we couldn’t wait to give you a little look! 👀💜

✨ New individual boards – we first introduced this new style of board in Jack & Jills back in April and loved how they worked, so we’ve brought them downstairs too. They give us a lovely way to celebrate each child and showcase their experiences and learning journey.

✨ Brand-new flooring – giving the whole room a fresh new feel and bringing the space together beautifully.

✨ New black out blinds - to help with sleep, reflecting heat in the summer and brings it all together nicely (we are waiting for the last few to arrive).

🌱 Our IMPACT Wall – bringing our curriculum to life and making the thinking behind what we do visible to both our educators and families. It brings together our Medium Term Planning, Calendar of Events, Focus Weeks and PANCo, showing just some of what happens behind the scenes to support the experiences we provide for our children on a day to day basis.

We put so much thought into our nursery environments and how they can best support the children who use them every day and we are so pleased with how Little Bo Peeps has come together. 🥰

We can’t wait for the children to come back and explore it! 💜

🌱 Behind the Scenes: Our IMPACT Curriculum 🌱

Did you know that here at Nursery Rhymes, we have developed our own bespoke IMPACT Curriculum & Pedagogy?

Our curriculum is about much more than planning activities. It is about understanding each individual child, what they already know, what interests them, how they learn and what will help them develop next.

Through careful observation, our practitioners consider children's next steps, routines, teachable moments and the ‘why’ behind their learning. We also look at their wellbeing and involvement, opportunities for child reflection, parental involvement and whether changes to the environment or additional adult support could further their development.

Today marks a very special milestone for all of us at Nursery Rhymes & Jabberwocky Pre-School… our official 25th Birthday! 🖤

For 25 years we have had the absolute privilege of caring for, supporting and watching generations of children grow here in Addingham. From tiny first steps to school leavers ready for their next adventure, we are so proud to have been part of so many families journeys over the years.

Today is also an incredibly special celebration for our amazing Nursery Manager, Rachael, who is celebrating her 25th Anniversary with Nursery Rhymes! ✨

From joining the nursery when it first opened, to leading and shaping it into the special place it is today, Rachael’s dedication, passion and love for early years has touched the lives of so many children, families and staff over the years. We honestly couldn’t imagine Nursery Rhymes without her.

To all of our past and present families, children and staff… thank you for being part of our story. Your support, memories and trust mean everything to us.

✨ Celebrating 25 Years of Nursery Rhymes ✨

This week marks a truly special milestone as Nursery Rhymes Children’s Day Nursery & Jabberwocky Pre-School celebrates 25 wonderful years within our local community 💜

Since opening in 2001, we have proudly cared for, supported and inspired generations of children and families here in Addingham. Over the years, our nursery has continued to grow and evolve whilst always staying true to what matters most — providing a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued and inspired to learn through play.

One of our proudest achievements has been developing our bespoke IMPACT Curriculum, carefully designed in-house to support curiosity, creativity, independence and meaningful real-life learning experiences for every child.

This year has also brought exciting new developments, including the successful launch of our Teacher-Led Pre-School provision for children aged 3.5 years to rising 5s — creating even more opportunities for interest-led learning and school readiness support tailored to older pre-school children 🌟

A huge part of our success is our incredible staff team and the love, care and dedication they bring every single day. Together, our team proudly holds a combined 195 years of qualified nursery experience, with so many long-standing staff members helping shape the nursery into what it is today.

We are especially proud to celebrate Nursery Manager Rachael Martin, who is also marking her own 25th year with the nursery. Rachael has been part of Nursery Rhymes since the very beginning and her passion, kindness and unwavering dedication have had an immeasurable impact on so many children, families and staff over the years.

We are also incredibly proud of our wider leadership team, whose individual strengths and expertise continue to help our nursery grow, evolve and provide the very best care and education for children every day.

To every child, family and staff member — past and present — thank you for being part of our journey. We are so grateful for the memories, support and community we have built together.

☀️ Warm Weather Reminder ☀️

With the lovely warmer weather expected next week, we are looking forward to spending lots of time outdoors exploring, playing and learning 🌿💛

To help us keep all children safe, cool and comfortable, please remember:
🧴 Apply sun cream before nursery
👒 Pack a named sun hat
👕 Provide suitable cool clothing such as shorts and t-shirts
💧 Pack named sun cream if you would prefer us to use your own

Our staff team will be following our Warm Weather Policy throughout the day, including regular drinks, shaded play opportunities and reapplying sun cream where appropriate ☀️

🌍✨ Celebrating 100 Years of Sir David Attenborough ✨🌍

Our Jabberwocky Pre-School children have been inspired by the incredible milestone birthday of David Attenborough turning 100! 🎉

Over the past week, we’ve been diving into the wonders of our planet, exploring the amazing environments where animals live and thrive — all inspired by his television documentaries over the years 💚

The children have been:
🌿 Discovering different habitats and the natural world around us, we have some caterpillars at the moment...
🎂 Creating playdough birthday cakes and counting all the way to 100 for the candles!
💌 Designing thoughtful birthday cards to send and celebrate this very special occasion

It’s been such a lovely way to spark curiosity, conversations and care for our world 🌎
