As well as looking the absolute business, end grain wooden chopping boards are better for your knife’s edge, and have all sorts of beneficial properties - antimicrobial, anti-pathogen, tha knows - but you’ve got to look after em to keep them looking and performing their best. Luckily it’s easy as wiping a bit of wax on the surface, waiting a while while you have a cuppa and do a crossword, and wiping it off again once every few weeks or so. And this wood wax from is just the stuff for the job!

So you’ve got your butter all nice and spreadable thanks to the genius of the Ea Co butter knife, but you can’t survive on buttered toast alone. What about jam?? Well Yoshikawa have got that sorted, with their nifty little jam spoon. Lots of flat edges at various angles for full contact with the inside of the jar, and a nice long handle to avoid getting Bon Maman’s finest all over your mitts and under your nails. Together, it’s a complete toast-spreading solution!

It took us AGES to get this range in, but now they’ve got pride of place in our cabinet - Hado Shiosai. K-tip blades in a range of shapes from 135mm Ko Bunka up to 210mm Gyuto, with a distinctive hammered Tsuchime finish cladding on SPG2 core steel, held in a stabilised wood handle. The finish and attention to detail on these is outstanding, right down to the mirror polished spine and choil for extra comfortable handling, and they perform like a dream. Proper wow-factor from the moment you set eyes on them right up until you’re gliding through carrots and whatnot.

We had a bit of technical difficulty with the sound on this one, which is a shame because we DO sing a duet at the end. Sid’s law really. But anyway, Bakers Lames. The things you use to slash your sourdough loaves so they don’t burst in toven. We’ve got some absolute beauties in, here have a look!
