We are growing our staff team!!
We have a fantastic opportunity for a qualified early years practitioner to join our bustling, home from home nursery right in the heart of Ilkeston.

We are proud to serve 120 of Ilkeston’s families and their littlest learners and are looking for an experienced, friendly new face to join our team. The below criteria are essential for all candidates!

You must have a warm smiling face that makes every child feel special.
You must also be able to give warm cosy cuddles on demand.
You must be okay to return home with paint/glue/some form of messy play in your hair or on your clothes.
You must have a love of the outdoors and be ready and prepared to face it no matter the conditions!
You must be able to make games up on the spot, perform in front of large crowds and not be scared to burst in to song or put on a silly voice at any given moment.
You must be able to act well and the ability to pretend eat (especially mud pies and playdough cupcakes) is essential.
It is preferred that you are happy to lead an impromptu yoga class in the sunshine or head out on an adventure to look for seasonal wildlife at any given moment.
It is essential that you are open-minded and can 'go with the flow'. No day is the same as the last and life with 0–5-year-olds is unpredictable. 🙂
It is essential you have a childcare qualification of Level 2 or higher and recent experience of working in a childcare setting.
We really welcome kindness, creativity, an ability to go with the flow and early years practitioners who like to take charge and have autonomy over the curriculum and care they provide for the children of Ilkeston. This truly is a job like no other! We are a family run business with a team of long-standing members of staff and are looking for that special someone to join our crazy crew.

We are looking for an early evening nursery cleaner for 10 hours per week ☺️🧹🧼 this will be to cover maternity leave up until approximately August 2027.

We are a very busy nursery where children are actively encouraged to creatively explore (both indoors and out). Like home, this means that it ends up being messy every day, so is a very physical job. 💪🧽

⭐️⭐️ We are hiring! ⭐️⭐️

We are a busy, family run business in the heart of Ilkeston, who are proud to provide care for 100 families per week. We have a team of 30 members of staff and are looking for a level 2/level 3 practitioner to join us as holiday cover.
This job requires you to be confident and comfortable in all our units as and where needed. This may mean, for example, one week in babies, one week in pre-school, one week in our forest school etc. It is important that you enjoy spending time in all units and engaging with the whole team, and all our lovely children aged 0-5- creating special bonds with them and their primary caregivers. It is favourable that you are computer/tablet literate.

This position is for an ‘as soon as possible’ start. Monday- Friday, between 24-40 hrs per week up until the end of September. There is a strong possibility that this position would become permanent.

WOW!!! 27 years ago on this day, The Pines Nursery opened its doors to the families of Ilkeston… welcoming children in to its bright Orange and Blue Rooms (🤭) for lots of fun, love and laughter.

You might recognise some of the faces in these very old photos- some of the staff are still with us today 😍 Sarah, Ruth, Melissa, Lucy and Gemma to name a few, and some of the children now work here, too- Alice and Millie were two of our first children and are now Qualified Teachers within setting.

A huge thank you to all of the practitioners who have made and continue to make Pines what it is today 💛 To mark 27 years we wanted to share a poem that our own Billie Swann, who will soon be Team Leader in our Pre-School unit wrote:

We take Pride in ensuring our children are secure and happy,
From cuddles, play time and changing nappies.
From the onset we get to know our children well,
Communicating with parents, their interests is what they will tell.
We find out their routines, to help them through the day,
Following the children’s lead, when they want to learn and play.
Following their interests, and listening to their needs,
Comforting them when they’re sad, and helping them with feeds.
Our children enjoy having independence,
But take comfort in knowing we are there in attendance 🥰❤️
