It is customary at Purim to give Tzedakah (charity) and this year we felt it was extremely poignant to be able to help in the crisis in the Ukraine and have set up an online fundraising page in partnership with World Jewish Relief.
We believe this is a very worthwhile cause. The donations can be as little as 50p or whatever you can manage.
If you wish to make a donation, please click the link below.
On Thursday 3rd March, Clore Tikva celebrated World Book Day. They took part in a book swap, drank hot chocolate and listened to lots of different stories. Everyone came into school wearing their pyjamas!
Mrs Saville read The Freedom Bird in assembly to all children and they then produced some wonderful work based on the story. We have examples of poetry, story maps, bookmarks and art work linked with this wonderful tale. We finished the day with a very successful book fair where children had the opportunity to purchase lots of different books. We would like to thank all of the parents that volunteered to come in and read a story to children in different languages.
World Book Day!!!
Year 1 children listened to the story of the Freedom Bird and created their own birds using oil pastels, collage or colouring. They also created five different parts of the story, working in groups.
Just over a year ago, we asked the children of Clore Tikva to donate any unwanted books to our Books2Africa fundraising scheme. So many families generously gave some wonderful books to the cause. We would like to thank you all for the 447 books that were donated.
396 of these books so far, have been distributed to children who may not be able to afford books themselves.
Here are some pictures of the children that have benefitted from your generosity!
Thank you all again for donating.
Is the Earth Spherical or flat? ๐
For homework, the Year 5 children were asked to make a model of Earth; this could be flat or spherical. They then had to write a letter to a flat Earth theorist persuading them that the Earth is spherical.
Following this, we had a class debate where we discussed, questioned and used evidence to make our own decisions on whether the Earth is flat or spherical.
Year 4 have been studying rivers in their current topic called โFlowโ. The children made boats using paper and wrote interesting facts about rivers on them. They were then asked to research a specific river.
Here are some examples of their fantastic work.
Wes Streeting visited us at Clore Tikva School.
Thank you Wes Streeting for coming to visit the school and talking with the children at their Kabbalat Shabbat assembly.
All the children from Year 1-6 wrote individual Chanukah cards as part of Jewish Care's Cards of Care. Here is a sample from the many batches that were written, all of which were collected today and will be handed out to residents of Jewish Care homes this Chanukah. Wishing you all Chag Sameach.
Mitzvah Day 2021
Thank you to everyone who donated food for the Redbridge Foodbank, which was all collected today. Thank you also to Lenna Rosenberg and Rukhsana Yaqoob from Nisa Nashim who baked cupcakes with our pupils which will be handed out at the Friday Night Cafe of Hope at Jubilee Church, Ilford, to feed the homeless. Finally a huge thank you for those who have donated toys for the Camp Simcha Toy Drive. These will all be collected next week so there is still time to donate. Shabbat Shalom
All pupils and staff at Clore Tikva observed a two-minute silence to remember and honour those who fought and died for our country. This display represents our responsibility and how we all have a responsibility to promote peace and kindness within our community and within our world. ๐บ๐บ๐บ

Readathon Success!
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have now purchased some wonderful books for the whole school. This is thanks to all of those people that donated to our school Readathon. All classes have received new books for their book corners as well as many packs of books that will be used for the teaching of Guided Reading.
Can I also take this opportunity to thank the many families that come to me with fantastic quality books that they have kindly donated to our school library. This will all contribute to our school being a place where we all love to read. Here are some photos of our children enjoying the new books.
