🌿 From our garden, to home 🌿

Our 2–3s and preschool children have been busy in our Growing Academy, making the most of one of the lovely treasures growing right here in our garden, our plum tree! 💜

The children carefully picked ripe plums, exploring where their food comes from and enjoying the excitement of harvesting something they had watched growing in their own nursery garden.

But the learning didn’t stop at the garden gate…

The children took their plums home with them to bake with their families. 🥧👩‍🍳

We love experiences like this because they connect nursery life with home. What starts as a little fruit growing on a tree becomes an opportunity to talk, explore, count, taste, bake and create together.

It’s these simple, hands-on experiences that help children develop curiosity, independence and a deeper connection with the world around them. 🌱

And, of course, we’re very excited to hear what delicious plum creations our families make! 💜🍰

✨ A Little Bit of Disco Magic! ✨

Our toddlers have recently enjoyed some wonderful awe and wonder experiences, exploring a world of shiny, glistening textures, beautiful reflections and creative mark-making. 💛

The children were fascinated by our disco balls and shiny materials, taking the opportunity to explore them through touch, sight and colour. They were then invited to make their own marks using paint and flowers across the baubles, disco balls and shiny surfaces.

It was lovely to see how each child approached the experience in their own way, some carefully creating marks, while others enjoyed experimenting with the textures, colours and materials around them.

These simple experiences provide so many opportunities for children to explore sensory experiences, creativity, fine motor skills and self-expression, while following their own curiosity and ideas.

And, of course, there was plenty of sparkle along the way! ✨🪩🌸

At The Early Years Academy, we love creating those little moments that capture children’s imagination and allow them to simply be immersed in the experience.

🌻 A Morning of Messy Magic 🌻

Last week, our babies dived into some wonderful messy play in the garden! 🌿

They explored frozen sunflowers and brightly coloured oobleck, discovering a whole host of new textures, temperatures and sensations as they played.

From the cool, hard ice to the soft, squishy oobleck, the babies were engaged from the very beginning. It was so lovely to watch their little faces as they touched, squeezed, investigated and responded to each new sensation. 🥰

Sensory experiences like these give our babies opportunities to explore the world at their own pace, following their curiosity and building confidence through hands-on play.

We absolutely loved watching their reactions to the oobleck and ice, messy hands, curious minds and lots of wonderful moments of discovery! 💛

🌟 STAFF SPOTLIGHT, CELEBRATING LEANNE! 🌟

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on one of the wonderful members of our EYA team, our fantastic nursery chef, Leanne! 👩‍🍳💕

Leanne is absolutely wonderful at what she does, and nothing is ever too big or too small for her. She approaches everything with the biggest smile, so much care and a genuine passion for making a difference to our children’s days.

From preparing delicious and nutritious meals to making sure every child’s individual dietary needs are carefully considered, Leanne plays such an important part in life at EYA. 🍎🥕🍓

But it’s not just the amazing food that makes Leanne so special. She has built such loving relationships with the children across the nursery, and it’s clear how much they enjoy seeing her and being part of her kitchen adventures.

We truly cannot appreciate Leanne enough for everything she does behind the scenes and for the care, kindness and positivity she brings to nursery every single day.

🌿🦖 Roaring Into a World of Sensory Discovery! 🦖🌿

Our babies have been enjoying That’s Not My Dinosaur recently, so our wonderful team decided to extend their interest and bring the book to life through a sensory play experience in the garden! 🌿

We created our very own prehistoric sensory world, complete with green water for the full swamp effect, chia seeds, shimmery water and lots of dinosaurs in different shapes and sizes for our babies to discover. 🦕✨

There were so many new textures, sights and sensations to explore, just like the ones they had encountered in their favourite book. Little hands were busy touching, feeling, splashing and investigating, and there were certainly plenty of smiles along the way! 💚

We love following children’s interests and using them as a starting point for meaningful, sensory-rich experiences. Our educators observed what the babies were enjoying and thoughtfully extended that learning into their outdoor environment, giving them the freedom to explore at their own pace.

A book, a little imagination and a whole lot of sensory fun… what a wonderful way to spend time outdoors! 🌿🦖💦

🌑 Exploring the Eclipse Through Art 🌞

Recently in our 2–3’s room, the children have been inspired by the solar eclipse they experienced with their families at home. Having used special glasses to safely watch the eclipse, they were fascinated by what they had seen in the sky.

We brought that sense of awe and wonder into the nursery through creativity, using black card and chalk to create their very own eclipse-inspired artwork. ✨

It was wonderful to see the children exploring their ideas, experimenting with colour and shape, and sharing their experiences with one another.

Moments like these are such a lovely reminder that children’s interests and experiences beyond nursery can become meaningful opportunities for curiosity, creativity and learning. 🌙🎨

🎶 Our Toddlers Are Dancing to the Beat! 🎶

Recently, our toddlers have shown a huge interest in music and movement, and it has been wonderful to watch their little personalities shine as they dance, move and respond to the music around them.

From joining in with our familiar core songs to listening to members of our team singing, the children are becoming increasingly confident in expressing themselves through movement. 💛

They have also been incorporating colourful streamers into their dancing, waving, twirling and moving them in different ways as they explore rhythm, space and their own ideas.

What might look like simply having fun and dancing is also supporting so much learning. Music and movement provide opportunities for children to develop their gross motor skills, coordination, confidence, communication and social interaction, while encouraging them to express themselves and enjoy the moment.

Most importantly, we love seeing the joy on their faces as they become completely absorbed in the music. ✨

At The Early Years Academy, we believe in creating environments where children can explore their interests, follow their curiosity and experience those little moments of awe and wonder every day.

🎵 Shake, twirl, dance and move, our toddlers are certainly finding their rhythm! 💃🕺
