🐝💛 What an AMAZING couple of weeks we’ve had at Hive Day Nursery & Preschool! 💛🐝

Our little bees have been super busy enjoying so many fun-filled activities, adventures and special experiences! 🌟

From 🧪 science experiments and 👩‍🍳 cooking, to 🌳 park visits, 🍦 ice creams, 💦 water play, 🌻 garden fun and 📚 book-themed weeks — there has certainly been no shortage of smiles, laughter and excitement!

We absolutely love giving our children as many opportunities as possible to explore, discover, get messy, try new things and make wonderful memories. 🥰

Of course, there is lots of learning happening along the way too — building confidence, friendships, independence, communication and curiosity — but most importantly, our children are having FUN while they learn. 💛

🌍 Cultural capital is at the heart of our nursery, and we are passionate about giving every child a wide range of experiences that help them learn more about the world around them.

There’s never a dull moment at Hive… and we wouldn’t have it any other way! 🐝✨

Happy children, exciting experiences and lots of special memories being made. 💛

🌱 Growing, Harvesting & Tasting at Hive! 🥒🫛🌻

Our vegetable patch has been bursting with life, and the children have absolutely loved watching their hard work pay off!
Over the past few weeks we’ve been busy watering, caring for and checking on our plants every day. Now comes the exciting part… harvesting! 🥰

So far we’ve enjoyed picking:
🥒 Courgettes
🫛 Runner beans
🌶️ Peppers
🎃 Marrows
🥒 Cucumbers
The children have been fascinated by how quickly everything has grown and have loved exploring the vegetables with all of their senses. From spotting tiny flowers that turn into vegetables, to picking fresh produce straight from the garden, every moment has been a wonderful learning opportunity.

Our beautiful sunflowers are growing taller every day too, and we can’t wait to watch them bloom! 🌻

At Hive, we believe children learn best through real-life experiences. Growing our own food encourages curiosity, patience, responsibility and a real appreciation for nature—and of course it’s lots of fun getting our hands dirty! 💚🐝

Another Busy Couple of Weeks at Hive Day Nursery & Preschool! 🌟

We’ve had another fantastic few weeks at Hive Day Nursery & Preschool, packed with exciting learning opportunities, fun activities, and memorable experiences.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve explored a variety of topics, including sensory play, people who help us, maths, understanding the world, healthy eating, and oral health. As a nursery, we pride ourselves on providing every child with a wide range of meaningful experiences that inspire curiosity, confidence, and learning.

The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about the different professionals who help us in our community. They took part in a range of fun, age-appropriate activities and were especially excited to visit our local fire station, where they had the opportunity to meet firefighters, ask questions, and even explore the big fire engine!

We’ve also been focusing on healthy eating and oral health. The children loved our homemade sugar-free strawberry yoghurt ice lollies, which were the perfect refreshing treat during the warm weather. Alongside this, we’ve been learning about the importance of keeping our teeth healthy and clean through hands-on activities and engaging educational videos on our projector.

Our adventures didn’t stop there! The children enjoyed wonderful outings to the pier, the library, and our local town. These trips are not only great fun but also help teach valuable life skills, including road safety and learning about the local community and environment.

And of course, what would nursery be without plenty of messy play? The children have loved getting creative, exploring different textures, using their imaginations, and having lots of fun along the way.

It’s been another wonderful few weeks at Hive Day Nursery & Preschool, and we can’t wait to see what adventures the next few weeks bring! 💛🐝

🌟 A Wonderful Couple of Weeks at Hive Day Nursery & Preschool 🌟

Over the past two weeks, our children have enjoyed a wide range of exciting learning experiences, including messy play, farm and wild animal activities, construction and building opportunities, and plenty of outdoor adventures in our garden.

Supporting independence remains a key focus within our setting. The children have been developing important self-care skills by confidently pouring their own filtered water during snack and lunchtime routines. These everyday experiences help to build confidence, coordination, and independence, aligning with the EYFS goal of fostering children’s personal development.

Messy play has continued to be a favourite! Through exploring a variety of sensory materials, children have been encouraged to investigate, create, and express themselves freely. Our practitioners carefully adapt activities to ensure they are age and stage appropriate, allowing every child to access the same learning opportunities at a level that supports their individual development. These experiences promote curiosity, problem-solving, communication, and physical development across the EYFS curriculum.

The children have also enjoyed learning about farm animals through imaginative play, discussions, and hands-on activities, helping to develop their understanding of the world around them.

And, of course, we’ve made the most of our outdoor environment. Our garden provides endless opportunities for exploration, physical development, risk-taking, and collaborative play, supporting children’s wellbeing and fostering a love of learning outdoors.

We are so proud of the enthusiasm, confidence, and independence the children continue to show every day. 🐝

🎉 6 Months Already! 🎉

Where has that time gone?

Six months ago, we had a crazy idea to open a new nursery in a new place. Fast forward to today, and we have waiting lists for baby rooms, an amazing team of 10 staff, and a nursery community that we are incredibly proud of.

We couldn’t have achieved any of this without the support, encouragement, and trust of so many people along the way.

A huge thank you to our wonderful families for choosing us and being part of our journey. Your support means the world to us. ❤️

We’re so grateful for everything we’ve accomplished together and can’t wait to see what the future holds.

What a fantastic and busy week we’ve had at Hive Day Nursery! 🐝🐞✨

This week’s theme was Bug & Bee Week, and the children have had an amazing time exploring, learning, and getting creative through lots of exciting activities.

Throughout the week, the children enjoyed going on fun bug hunts around the nursery, searching for creepy crawlies and learning all about the different insects they could find. They also got creative making beautiful bug and bee pictures using a variety of arts and crafts materials. 🎨🐛

Our themed tuff trays were a huge hit, providing plenty of hands-on fun, sensory exploration, and imaginative play opportunities for all ages. The children especially loved learning about different bugs, where they live, and why they are important to our environment. 🌿🐝

It has been such a fun-filled, busy, and exciting week at Hive Day Nursery, and we are so proud of how engaged and enthusiastic all the children have been. We can’t wait to see what adventures next week brings! 💛🐞🐝

We’re Looking for a Nursery Cook! 🍎🐝

At Hive Day Nursery we believe healthy little tummies help create happy little minds — and we’re looking for a warm, friendly cook to join our nurturing team!

Hours-
Monday – Friday
11:00am – 2:00pm

The Role
You’ll be preparing healthy, nutritious meals and snacks for our children in a caring nursery environment where food is an important part of the day in particular healthy eating.

We’re looking for someone who:

* Loves cooking fresh, wholesome food
* Enjoys working around children
* Is organised, reliable and friendly
* Understands allergies and food hygiene
* Has experience in catering or nursery/school cooking (preferred)
