Lexicology for Reading

I am the Founding Director of Lexicology for Reading. lexicology bridges the gap between the 44 phonic sounds and reading polysyllabic words. I have identified and addressed the lack of Classics in state schools by introducing affixes with roots in Latin and Greek. New vocabulary is decoded through the study and meanings of affixes. This is a transferable skill that benefits Literacy Across the Cu

rriculum. Furthermore, Lexicology provides age appropriate, monosyllabic reading for teenagers. I am primarily a self employed Peripatetic English Teacher. Teaching: Staff Training; Key Stages 2-5; Lexicology Intervention Programmes; Lexicology to cover PPA time; Lexicology as a pre - booked Supply Day / 'Taster Day,’ and Lexicology as a Literacy Module in schools. I also offer Corporate Education to improve literacy. I work short term contracts consequently I can be available for daily supply. I will ‘step into the breech’ and ‘hit the ground running’ if you want someone that is firm but fair with high expectations. I am not available to cover long term absence unless you are interested in a Lexicology Literacy Module. Thank you but I am NOT looking for a full time job however I love teaching French and could be persuaded to bridge a gap in order to keep my hand in. Playschool was literally my home – or at least the ground floor of my home was a Playschool as I grew up: creating Flashcards, teaching resources and teaching through play. I have sixteen years Secondary cross – curricular experience. Having developed quite a portfolio of working with the primary age including: Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells Leisure Co-Ordinator for Mencap and Akela for Ticehurst Cubs I subsequently ran the Concorde ‘Playdays’ Summer 2012 which was teaching under eight-year-old, multinational students, English- through play. Curriculum planning, creating resources, sharing best practice and empowering students to reach their goals are my passions. It was therefore inevitable that I would eventually join the dots and develop my tutoring programme into a teaching programme. I look forward to working with you soon.
