With just one week of the summer holidays left, why not get back into the swing of things with the exciting Read to the Beat challenge? πŸ“–πŸŽΆ

Massive well done to all those who have taken part so far!

The challenge encourages children to keep reading over the holidays and earn points for their school on the leaderboard! πŸ†

πŸ₯ΎπŸŒ Year 4 Charity Hike Success! 🌍πŸ₯Ύ

Year 4 have successfully completed their 3.5-mile charity hike to raise money for people affected by leprosy, and we are so incredibly proud of them! πŸ’›

The children showed fantastic resilience, determination and strength of character throughout the walk, especially in the warm weather. They encouraged one another, kept going when it felt challenging and showed a brilliant attitude from start to finish 🌟

They were also lucky enough to enjoy a well-earned snack break at The American Gardens, where Nigel, the owner, kindly showed the children how to pick fresh cherries. Everyone enjoyed a few delicious cherries to help keep their energy up before completing the rest of the hike πŸ’

This was a wonderful example of Courageous Advocacy in action, with the pupils working together to make a difference to the lives of others.

A huge well done to Year 4 β€” an amazing achievement! πŸ‘

β˜€οΈπŸŽͺ Summer Fete Success! πŸŽͺβ˜€οΈ

On Friday, our school community came together for a fantastic Summer Fete, full of fun, laughter and brilliant stalls! πŸ’›

A special mention must go to some of our Year 6 pupils, who planned, set up and ran their very own stalls with great success. It was wonderful to see their confidence, independence and teamwork in action 🌟

Each class also ran their own stalls, with our amazing staff team giving their time after an intense week to support the running of the Fete. Of course, no Saltwood Summer Fete would be complete without poor Mr Wells continuing his now annual tradition of sitting in the stocks for Soak the Teacher! πŸ’¦πŸ˜„

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, supported the stalls, donated prizes, helped organise the event or gave up their time on the day.

The money raised will support FoSS, our brilliant PTA, who work so hard to reinvest funds into opportunities, resources and experiences that make our school an even better place for our children.

Thank you, as always, to our amazing Saltwood community πŸ‘

🏰✨ Year 4 Visit to Saltwood Castle ✨🏰

As part of their history topic on Canterbury, Year 4 enjoyed a fascinating visit to Saltwood Castle, bringing their classroom learning to life in a truly memorable setting.

The children explored the story of how the four knights travelled to Saltwood Castle and finalised their plot to murder Thomas Becket before setting off for Canterbury. Standing in the Great Hall, where the knights are believed to have gathered in 1170, gave the children a powerful opportunity to imagine what life may have been like at the time.

It was a wonderful afternoon of discovery, curiosity and historical thinking. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the castle and deepening their understanding of this significant event from the past.

A fantastic experience for Year 4 and a brilliant example of learning beyond the classroom πŸ’›

Year 3 had a fantastic day at Wingham Wildlife Park, where the highlight of the visit was meeting the giraffes! 🌿

This linked beautifully with their English learning around the wonderful book Zeraffa Giraffa, helping the children bring their classroom learning to life in a really memorable way πŸ“šπŸ¦’

The children loved seeing these incredible animals up close and learning more about them, while also enjoying the chance to explore the wildlife park and discover lots of other fascinating creatures.

It was a brilliant day of learning beyond the classroom, full of curiosity, excitement and unforgettable moments πŸ’›
