SkyHigh Achievers Hyde Day Nursery

SkyHigh Achievers Hyde Day Nursery Sky High Achievers Hyde is a family-owned nursery. We open Monday to Friday currently 8am to 6pm, 51 weeks a year.

We provide a "home from home" where children are nurtured as individuals to become successful little achievers. Sky High Achievers Melandra Day Nursery and Pre-School is a well established nursery based within the Melandra Children's Centre. Based in Hyde, Cheshire, the nursery offers excellent standards ensuring the Health, Safety, Development and Wellbeing of the children in our care. We are fu

lly registered with OFSTED who recently graded us GOOD. We are registered to provide day care for 60 children from 0-5 years and also offering a small after school club catering for 12 children. We have 4 beautifully organised rooms, as well as a sensory room and an extremely well equipped outdoor play area. The nursery is ideally located close to the motorway network linking Manchester and Sheffield. There is easy access to all areas of Tameside and is surrounded by beautiful countryside giving the children excellent opportunities to explore. Children are offered an extensive program of activities to support their development and widen their knowledge in accordance with the Early Years Framework. Sessional and full day care is offered for all our children. The Ofsted inspection found ''The contribution of the early years provision to the well-being of children to be Outstanding''

The report comments ''Children benefit from a wonderful 'key person' system which helps each child and their family get to know a particular member of staff well. Children are settled in to nursery gradually which helps them establish secure relationships that make them feel valued. The children are very confident in approaching adults for support, to talk about the things that interest them or share what they are doing and demonstrate their independence''.

''As a result of the exceptional care offered by staff, children learn independence skills which will support and promote their future learning and eventual move to school''.

This morning Toddlers and Preschool read "Hamilton Hats" we brought our very own Jeffery the Giraffe into the room to try on some of Hamiltons Hats...
All our children independently picked a hat and put it on the Giraffe they were so careful and kind.

🌟 What an adventure! πŸšŒπŸ“šβ˜•οΈ

Today our Toddlers and Preschool children headed out on an exciting adventure into our local community! πŸ₯°

We hopped on the bus and travelled into Hyde, where we visited a lovely local cafΓ© for a drink and some delicious toast. β˜•οΈπŸž

Then it was off to the free book shop πŸ“š, where the children enjoyed choosing some new books to bring back to nursery. While we were there, we also spent some time doing mark making, giving the children the opportunity to explore their creativity in a different environment. ✏️✨

Before long, it was time to hop back on the bus and head back to nursery β€” arriving just in time for lunch! 🚌🍽️

What a fantastic adventure! ❀️

We loved exploring our community, building confidence, practising our social skills and creating lots of wonderful memories along the way. πŸŒˆπŸ’›

IMPACT. And what an impact we had! πŸš€

Our third Sky High Achievers Conference was one to remember.

This year, we built the whole day around one powerful word:

I β€” Imagination
M β€” Making a difference
P β€” People
A β€” Advancement
C β€” Communication
T β€” Tomorrow starts today

And that’s exactly what the day was about β€” coming together, challenging ourselves, sharing ideas, celebrating our people and thinking about the difference we can make, both today and in the future.

There was inspiration, laughter, some brilliant conversations, a few lightbulb moments… and plenty of IMPACT. ❀️

And then we finished the day exactly as we should β€” with an amazing award ceremony, celebrating the incredible people who make Sky High Achievers what it is, followed by drinks, laughter and time together as a team. πŸ₯‚πŸ†

I’m incredibly proud of our team and everything they achieve every single day.

Tomorrow really does start today.

Here’s a little glimpse of our IMPACT day πŸŽ₯πŸ‘‡

🌞 Learning Beyond the Nursery Walls 🌞

On Wednesday, our preschool children enjoyed a fantastic morning exploring our local community, putting their learning into practice through meaningful, real-life experiences.

Before leaving the nursery, we discussed how to stay safe near roads and revisited our road safety rules together. The children confidently remembered to stop, look left, look right and look left again before crossing, demonstrating their growing awareness of how to keep themselves and others safe.

Our first stop was Tesco, where the children helped to choose ingredients for our upcoming baking activities, selected some fresh fruit and, as it was such a warm day, enjoyed choosing some ice pops to cool down. πŸ“πŸ›’πŸ¦

We then visited the local park, where the children explored the play equipment, developing their physical skills, confidence and resilience while working together, taking turns and encouraging one another.

Experiences like these are an important part of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), helping children to make sense of the world around them through first-hand experiences. Community visits support children’s Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, Physical Development and Understanding the World, while fostering independence, confidence and a sense of belonging within their local community.

After a fun-filled morning, we returned to nursery ready for a well-earned lunch. We are incredibly proud of how sensible, respectful and responsible all of the children were throughout our outing. πŸ’™

✨ Teamwork, Reflection & New Ideas! ✨

Last night, our wonderful team came together for our six-weekly staff meeting.

We started the evening with a fun and interactive Safer Sleep Quiz, ensuring all of our practitioners are up to date with the latest guidance and best practices. Providing the safest possible environment for the children in our care is always our priority.

Next, we took a walk around the nursery in our room teams, looking at each learning environment with fresh eyes. We discussed what we love about our spaces, celebrated the wonderful experiences we already provide, and explored ideas for how we can make each room even more inspiring for our children.

It was fantastic to see so many creative ideas being shared and to work together to continue developing our nursery.

✨ Watch this space… we can’t wait to start bringing some of these exciting ideas to life! ✨

πŸŽ¨πŸ–ŒοΈ Creative masterpieces in our Baby Room today! πŸ–ŒοΈπŸŽ¨

Today our wonderful practitioners set up a large-scale painting activity for our babies to enjoy. Using real china plates as their canvases, the children explored a selection of colourful paints and paintbrushes to create their very own unique works of art.

This hands-on experience encouraged creativity, supported fine motor development, and allowed the babies to explore different colours, textures, and mark-making techniques in a fun and engaging way. Every plate is as unique as the little artist who created it! πŸ’›

We love providing opportunities for our youngest learners to express themselves through open-ended creative play while building confidence and developing key early learning skills.

✨ Well done, babies – your artwork is beautiful! ✨

β˜€οΈ What a wonderful day our babies have had exploring and creating outdoors! πŸŽ¨πŸƒ

Today, our baby practitioners set up a large-scale outdoor painting activity using twigs and leaves as natural paintbrushes. The children loved investigating the different textures and creating colourful marks with their nature-inspired tools, encouraging their curiosity and creativity.

The fun continued as they rolled toy cars through paint and down the slide, watching the colourful tracks appear as they explored cause and effect through play.

Learning through play in the sunshine is a fantastic way to support children’s creativity, sensory development, fine and gross motor skills, and early exploration of the natural world.

What a beautiful day filled with smiles, laughter, and lots of colourful masterpieces! β˜€οΈπŸ’š
