✨A NEW TERM IN OUR TODDLER ROOM ✨

What a lovely start to the new term we’ve had in our Toddler Room 🌿

Our little stars have been busy settling back into nursery life, exploring their environment, reconnecting with their friends and getting stuck into lots of wonderful learning opportunities. ✨

This week has been filled with stories, creativity, imagination and child-led play, with so many special little moments happening throughout the room. 💛

📚 Story time has brought everyone together, encouraging our toddlers to listen, communicate, join in and develop their growing love of books. There’s something so special about seeing our little ones gather around a story together!

🎨 Our children have also been getting creative with self-portraits, using mirrors to look carefully at their own faces before putting paintbrush to paper. We loved seeing their completely unique creations! This activity encouraged the children to explore their own identity, notice their individual features, make choices and express themselves freely through colour and mark-making. 🖌️🪞

🍊 Over in our home and imaginative play areas, the children have been busy exploring familiar experiences, preparing their own pretend meals, investigating different resources and creating their own little games. Through this kind of play, our toddlers are developing their communication, independence, imagination and understanding of the world around them.

And, of course, some of the biggest learning happens in those everyday moments between friends. 🫶🏼

We can't wait to see where their interests take us this term. There are so many new experiences to discover, friendships to grow and memories waiting to be made. 💫

🍽️✨ WHAT’S BEEN ON & WHAT’S TO COME… 🍂⭐️

There’s nothing quite like a homemade meal made with love — and our little stars have certainly been enjoying theirs! 🥰

Over the past few months, our kitchen has been filled with the delicious smells of freshly prepared, homemade meals, with our children enjoying a wonderful variety of nutritious dishes, tasty favourites and new flavours.

We absolutely love watching them enjoy mealtimes together

But whilst the children have been enjoying the summer break, our chef Vicky been busy behind the scenes creating something new… 👀🍂

Our brand-new Autumn Menu is coming soon! 🍁

We’ve been carefully planning a selection of delicious, wholesome and warming homemade meals, perfect for the new season and designed to keep our little stars fuelled, happy and ready for all the fun and learning that each day brings.

We can’t wait to share it with you!

🎨✨ SUMMER HOLIDAY CREATIVITY! ✨🎨

Today’s activity is all about getting creative with things you probably already have at home — because sometimes the simplest activities create the most wonderful opportunities for children to explore, imagine and express themselves.

✨Why not try some of these together?

🐾 Paper plate animals – turn a paper plate into a favourite animal using paint, pens, paper, wool or anything else you can find.

🎨 Handprint art – little hands can become dinosaurs, flowers, butterflies, fish or anything your child can imagine! This is also a lovely way to create a keepsake of how little their hands are right now. 💕

🌿 Leaf rubbings – collect a few different leaves while out on a walk, place paper over the top and gently rub with crayons to reveal the shapes and textures.

⭐ Stickers and stamps – let your child decorate paper, cardboard or old packaging. There doesn’t need to be a finished product — the process of choosing, placing and creating is where the learning happens.

☀️ Create a summer collage – collect bits and pieces from around the house or garden and create a picture inspired by summer. Think sunshine, flowers, beaches, ice creams, gardens and holidays!

And remember… it doesn’t have to look perfect! 🥰

For young children, creative activities are about so much more than making something to take home. They help develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, imagination, language and confidence, while giving children the freedom to make their own choices and explore different textures, colours and materials.

Water play is a wonderful way for children to learn through play. Simply grab a bowl of water, some cups, spoons, containers or bath toys and let your little one explore!

It’s a great way to encourage creativity, build confidence and make special memories together. 💙

✨ As we come to the end of our very first academic year at Shining Stars Day Nursery, we're taking a moment to reflect on just how far we've come and how proud we are of everything we've achieved together. ✨

One year ago, Shining Stars opened its doors with a vision to create a warm, nurturing environment where children could learn, grow and shine. Looking back on our first academic year, we're incredibly proud of the happy, confident children we've had the privilege of caring for and the wonderful relationships we've built with our families.

None of this would have been possible without our amazing team. Their kindness, passion and dedication shine through every single day, creating a safe, caring and inspiring environment where every child can thrive.

To our wonderful families, thank you for trusting us with your precious children and for supporting us throughout our very first year. It has been a privilege to be part of your children's early years, and we're so grateful to have you as part of the Shining Stars family.

🦋🐛 Today’s Little Explorers Activity! 🐛🦋

What a wonderful day we’ve had learning all about butterflies and caterpillars! 🌿✨

Our little learners enjoyed:
🎨 Colouring in the caterpillar life cycle
🦋 Gluing and sticking colourful butterfly crafts to develop their fine motor skills
📚 Reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar together and talking about how caterpillars grow and change

The highlight of the day was saying goodbye to our Insect Lore caterpillars as we carefully released them into the wild. 🦋💚 The children were so excited to watch them begin their next adventure, and it was such a magical learning experience seeing the butterfly life cycle come to life right before their eyes! 🌼☀️

Hands-on activities like these help children develop creativity, language, fine motor skills, and a love for nature. 🌸🐞

What a fantastic day full of smiles, learning, and lots of butterfly excitement! 🥰🦋
