Keith Richards – The Human Riff Machine

From the opening riff of Brown Sugar to Start Me Up, H***y Tonk Women and Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Keith has built a career on proving that feel will always beat flash.

One of the secrets behind his unmistakable sound?

🎸 Open G tuning.

By removing the low E string and tuning to Open G, Keith created a raw, punchy rhythm tone that became the signature sound of The Rolling Stones. Add his love of Telecasters, vintage Fender amps, and a healthy dose of attitude, and you’ve got one of the most recognisable guitar tones in rock history.

Gary Moore and Rory Gallagher.
