Congratulations to Jack on his performance at the England Athletics Indoor Combined Event U17 Men’s Heptathlon in Sheffield last weekend, where he finished 14th in the country with 3,740 points across the 60m, long jump, high jump, shot put, 60m hurdles, pole vault, and 1000m. An excellent effort, especially after sustaining a knee injury at the start of day one. 👏

Cat and Honor turned a gap in girls’ cricket into a thriving business. 🏏

After struggling to find cricket kit designed for girls, they decided to create their own: .cricket

Working with a designer, visiting factories, and leading the project themselves, they launched a range focused on fit, comfort, and performance, with adjustable hems, stretch fabrics, moisture-wicking materials, built-in protection, and lighter pads and gloves.

Their “Why Not?” attitude has helped them push through challenges and build a brand shaped by their vision of a world where girls and women no longer feel like outsiders on the cricket field.

Megan Bruce (Hurst Alumna) is set to race in F1 Academy. 🏎️

After finishing A-levels at Hurst, Megan took a gap year before starting a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During that year, she entered the Caterham Academy, built her own car from scratch, and took it to circuits around the UK.

Megan then completed her first year at the University of Exeter while also racing in another Caterham Championship and competing in GB4. After scoring her first podium in just five race starts, her strong results caught the attention of , who selected her for their Rookie test. Megan went on to earn an invitation to make her debut at the Singapore Grand Prix in October 2025, before being signed by for the 2026 race season. Hurst is proud of all that Megan has achieved, and she has become a strong role model for girls at the College, especially those who may be considering a future in motorsport.

A heartfelt thank you to Laura from the for speaking about the incredible work the charity does to support women, children, and families in finding the strength and opportunities to make choices that lead to positive change.

The evening was beautifully opened by Char in Vth Form, whose moving speech highlighted the importance of International Women’s Day and the power of community and support. We were also treated to and a collage workshop led by , and wonderful performances from UVI singers, who filled the evening with music throughout.

All proceeds from the event will go to The Oasis Project, the charity proudly represented by our half marathon runners Charlotte, Georgie, and Clemmie.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and supported this fabulous event. Together, we truly showed the spirit of giving to gain.

To celebrate 30 years since girls joined the School and the instrumental role co-education has played in Hurst’s success, we hosted a special International Women’s Day event at the House of Commons to honour the trailblazing women who have helped shape Hurst’s history and continue to inspire future generations.
 
The event featured a series of inspirational conversations covering the importance of female leadership and representation from speakers across a diverse range of fields including politics, media, tech, aviation, and the arts:

Saqib Bhatti MBE – Shadow Minister for Education
 
Mims Davies MP for East Grinstead, Uckfield and villages – MP for East Grinstead and Uckfield
 
Alison Bennett – MP for Mid Sussex
 
Gillian Robinson – BBC News Broadcast Journalist (Hurstpierpoint College alumna)
 
Natasha Kaplinsky OBE – TV Presenter and Journalist
 
Phoebe Perry – creator of VOTE, an original musical about the Suffragette movement (Hurstpierpoint College alumna)
 
Katherine Moloney – Founder of Elevate(her) Aviation, an organisation dedicated to raising the percentage of women in aviation careers globally (Hurstpierpoint College alumna)
 
The talks covered a cross-section of topics reflecting the official International Women’s Day 2026 theme of ‘Give To Gain’, which encourages a mindset of generosity and collaboration.

We are particularly grateful to Mims for her time in helping arrange the evening, and for giving our Lower Sixth girls a tour of the House of Commons.

Alongside this milestone year, the College is championing its Engage Bursary Campaign, a long-term initiative to widen access to a Hurst education by raising vital funds to support talented young people who would otherwise be unable to attend the School. Visit to find out more.
