Hello, my name is Fiona Hammond and I am offering face to face, 1:1 tuition for primary aged children in the Oxted/Hurst Green area.
If you are considering hiring a tutor for your child but are hesitating, these are some of the things you might want to consider.

Your child will receive 1:1 attention.
Most primary classrooms have 30 students per teacher, making it very difficult for a teacher to give one student a lot of long-term personal focus – especially if they’re middle-of-the-class or struggling just a little.

There’s no pressure.
One to one tuition allows your child to learn in a much more relaxed environment where they do not feel that they have to compete with their fellow classmates. They have time to think through their responses to questions rather than rushing to answer or giving up because others have their hand up first.

The pace of learning can be matched to your child.
Any education system whether it is state or private has a curriculum and the pace of learning is dictated by that curriculum. Children do not learn at the same pace, nor do they learn in a linear fashion. A 1:1 tutor can teach at the pace that your child learns and identify any skills or knowledge that your child has not yet embedded.

Tutoring in Oxted and Hurst Green
Hello, my name is Fiona Hammond.
I have over 25 years of experience in primary education as a class teacher and 4 years as a tutor. I am located in Hurst Green and am now offering face to face tutoring services to primary age children from Years 2 to 6 in Maths and English. I can support children who have specific learning difficulties, children who need some extra SATs practice, children who are finding it difficult to keep up with the curriculum or have specific gaps in their learning. I am also offering 11+ tutoring for those who are considering applying to Grammar school.
