It is with great regret that after 15 years of providing a childcare service to our local community, we have been notified that come 30th December 2022, we will no longer be in a position to operate. Please note this is not due to our care standards, it is solely due to the premises not meeting current Care Inspectorate standards. There is no alternative premises in Huntly suitable for this which meet requirements for a nursery build.

We have fought hard these past few years during Covid, the lockdowns, closure due to the flooding at our Gordon Street premises and the loop holes we have went through to endeavour to grants us a permanent premises.

Further to last nights meeting with the parents, we thank you for all the support you have provided. Following 15 years of running the nursery to the best of our abilities, we no longer are in the position to do so. We truly understand that this arises an issue for the community, as there is no other childcare facility able to accommodate for the children who need this. However, we have done everything possible to avoid this, and unfortunately nothing further can be done by us at this time.

There has already been letter written to the care inspectorate and MSPs to lodge the issue. We understand this is now a community issue that needs resolved, which is why we now pass this to you and the council to resolve.

It has been an exhausting few years for our family and staff who have always gone above and beyond to support the children of Huntly and who all hold a special place in our hearts at Kiddiewinkles.

🍂A seasonal walk around our community this morning to collect some natural resources.🍂

The benefits;

- Children enjoy feeling the fresh autumn breeze 💨

- A wonderful time to get outside and observe the colours changing around us 🌈

-Nature findings will add curiousity and interest to our play.

- Literacy learning to find something smooth, hard, wet, green, soft and crunchy.

- Numeracy play, how when using the conkers we can see how far can they travel or How many can we fit in the tubs?

- Children working in their ‘woodland kitchen’ exploring to make their own soups, Cupcakes and pies .

- Sensory play with our scented play dough, developing our fine motor skills and our imagination creating animals and monsters.

Some wonderful nature exploration at kiddie winkles today. Using our magnifying powers, we were able to find our new class pets ‘Biggy’ and ‘Little’, the slug brothers. The children have created a lovely home for them for the next few days, whilst we give everyone in the classroom a chance to investigate our mini beast friends.

At Kiddie Winkles we hold the Children’s curiosity and creativity at the centre of our ethics. We have been swapping the plastic for real and authentic resources. It’s not just about swapping the furniture and resources though - it’s for the benefit of the children.
