Then & Now, hockey edition!

The 2026 U13A girls’ hockey team Kimbolton School jumped at the opportunity to recreate the U13 girls’ hockey team photo from 1980.

In the Autumn 1977 edition of 'The Kimboltonian,' Mr Cowan reported 'I had some reservations about the effects of the arrival of twenty little girls might have on the Prep. I now have none at all and can report with delight that the girls have become an asset to the school.'

Today, there is a healthy mix of genders at Kimbolton School and we are confident that this diversity remains among the greatest of assets.

As we celebrate 50 years since girls joined our Prep School, the OKA asks alumni to share their own reflections by participating in an essay contest ending this Wednesday 30 September.

Email 500 or fewer words to [email protected] answering the question: 'How does co-education create better learners?'

The winning entries will be published in the next edition of the OK Magazine.

It's Dolly Parton Day (a nod to 9.25)! As Dolly was a dedicated cheerleader for childhood literacy, this feels like the ideal time to highlight the - a gorgeous space at Kimbolton School from the inside out.

The OKA would also like to celebrate the alumni who have shared their published work with us. Over the past year, we learned about several books written by OKs, including but not limited to:

1. 'Well Fed' by James Collier (OK'90)
2. 'New Scottish Houses' by Isabelle Priest (OK'06)
3. 'The Building of England' by Simon Thurley (OK'81)

Smiled a large, toothy grin upon spotting Jesse Burgess (OK'09) in the Waitrose & Partners 'Your Week in Food' published 16 September!

Jesse is the face of TopJaw and host of Apple TV's Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars. In the feature article, he describes himself as 'a below average home cook' despite his extremely well-travelled palette.

He has has strong opinions on matcha, and like many Old Kimboltonians before and after him, names the humble 'jacket potato with cheese and beans' as his 'Autumn comfort food.'

Sunday's hockey and football matches against were spectacularly played and captivating to watch. The OK hockey team lost by one point after a strong fight; our OK football teams both conquered over Kimbolton's boys.

The post-match teas were as wonderful as the games, bringing together more than 150 athletes, family members, friends, and OKs in the Dining Hall!

The Old Kimboltonian and sailing teams were finally able to meet at Grafham water last Saturday after needing to cancel in June to heatwave protocols.

The OKs won the first race, the second and third races was won the school!

Team Captain Alaster Gray says that OKs 'were very impressed by the school’s sailing skills' and has already sent in his full report from the day for the OK Magazine to be published in the spring.
