Glebe House School North West Norfolk's leading co-educational independent Nursery & Prep school. Celebrating 150 Years!

In many ways, what makes us special is precisely what makes us different from other schools. We are small which means each child is known and nurtured individually – but always inclusively – in every aspect of school life. We are located close to North Norfolk’s coastline and so getting outside, enjoying nature and learning about the environment is part of our children’s learning. We may have been here since 1874, but our focus is on combining the best of contemporary education with traditional values.

A fantastic start to our inter-house sporting events!

Blue skies and sunshine set the scene for our first sporting event of the school year, with pupils of all abilities proudly representing their Houses.

From the sports field to the Forest School trail, each year group took on their own fun and challenging course, cheered on by families, friends and staff.

A brilliant display of teamwork, determination and House spirit.

Learning to swim is an important life skill. 🏊‍♀️ And being located by the sea, we recognise the importance all the more!

Recent research found that more than a quarter of Year 6 children in England left school unable to swim 25m in 2024–25, whilst Swim England works hard to highlight how regular opportunities to learn and build confidence in the water can make a real difference.

At Glebe House, we’re fortunate to have our own swimming pool and dedicated swimming teacher, offering weekly lessons for all our year groups from Reception upwards throughout a significant part of the school year.

Alongside learning strokes and improving technique, our children are developing water confidence, safety and self-rescue skills.

These key skills stay with children for life and we’re proud to support their development through our timetable.

Harvest Festival is always an annual highlight at Glebe House.

Our Harvest Assembly is a special time to come together, give thanks and give back to our local community.

This year, children brought in donations for Hunstanton Food Bank, while learning about the importance of harvest and singing together.

And the celebrations continued in the dining hall, where each year group decorated their House table with autumnal displays. 🍂

We’re sure you’ll agree, they all did a fantastic job! 🌾

Happy !

Today, we’re celebrating the people who play such an important part in everyday life at Glebe.

Here are just a few of the fantastic teachers who make Glebe what it is - with today being a chance to celebrate and thank our whole teaching team.

Our teachers do far more than teach lessons. They get to know our pupils as individuals, encourage their curiosity and help them discover the things they love.

From the classroom to the sports field, the art room and beyond, they create opportunities for children to challenge themselves, try something new and grow in confidence.

And perhaps most importantly, they’re there for the everyday moments too - listening, encouraging, supporting and helping children develop the independence, resilience and kindness that will stay with them long beyond their school years.

Happy ! 🎶

Today is a chance to celebrate the joy of music and the many ways it brings people together.

At Glebe House, music is part of everyday school life. From learning to play an instrument and discovering the joy of singing, to performing in front of friends, teachers and families, children are encouraged to find their own confidence and creativity through music.

From Reception onwards, our pupils have opportunities to perform, whether that’s sharing something with their classmates, taking part in a school concert or joining the choir.

And there’s plenty of opportunity to explore along the way, with pupils learning instruments from piano, guitar and drums to brass, woodwind and strings.

It’s not just about learning the notes. It’s about listening to one another, having a go, building confidence and enjoying making music together.

September at Glebe House 🍂

A new school year, new adventures and plenty to celebrate!

From exploring our beautiful Norfolk coastline and discovering the wonders of the British Museum to hands-on learning, sporting fixtures and time spent with our friends at Norfolk Lodge, September has been full of opportunities to learn, grow and enjoy life at Glebe.

We’ve welcomed our school community back together, embraced new experiences both in and beyond the classroom, and made some lovely memories along the way.

Celebrating our wonderful Norfolk coastline with our annual whole-school walk.

From Reception to Year 8, pupils across Glebe enjoyed a whole-school walk along the Hunstanton coast.

There were beach walks, the Wolf Trail, wildlife and plenty of time to explore, play and enjoy the sea and sand, with older pupils even meeting the RNLI team to learn more about their vital work.

With parents, dogs and plenty of Glebe spirit joining us along the way, it was a lovely opportunity to explore, connect and appreciate the remarkable coastline on our doorstep. 🌊

When the learning stretches beyond four walls.

It’s been a busy start to the term for outdoor learning at Glebe House, with pupils taking their learning into the local area and bringing their topics to life.

Year 4 headed to the beach as part of their seaside poetry topic, inspired by James Reeves’ The Sea. They explored the sights, sounds and smells of the coast before performing their own sea poetry from the sand dunes, with the sea as their backdrop.

Meanwhile, Year 2 headed into Hunstanton as part of their History learning about the Houses at Glebe, following the Wolf Trail to discover more about Saint Edmund. They visited the remains of St Edmund Chapel, found the wooden wolf at the end of the trail and stopped at St Edmund Church to explore its stained-glass windows and impressive statues.

Two very different trips, but the same opportunity to explore, discover and bring learning to life beyond the classroom.
