What’s in season in October?
October is one of my favourite months for seasonal cooking. The colder days call for warming soups, comforting bakes, hearty dinners and plenty of autumn flavours – and there’s so much wonderful British produce to enjoy.
Look out for:
🎃 Pumpkins and squash – perfect for soups, risottos, curries and roasting
🍎 Apples and pears – lovely in crumbles, cakes, chutneys, sauces and compotes
🥕 Carrots and parsnips – ideal for warming soups, Sunday roasts and comforting side dishes
🥬 Cabbage, kale and cauliflower – brilliant for hearty autumn meals, soups and gratins
🥔 Potatoes – mash, soup, dauphinoise, gnocchi... where do you start?
🧅 Leeks – one of my autumn favourites for soups, pies, sauces and risottos
🍄 Mushrooms – wonderful in creamy sauces, soups, pasta dishes and risottos
🌰 Chestnuts – perfect for adding that unmistakable autumn flavour to both sweet and savoury dishes
And, of course, October wouldn't be October without pumpkin!
Your Thermomix® is perfect for making the most of the season – from silky soups and warming sauces to homemade chutneys, breads, cakes and comforting family dinners.
Buying and cooking with seasonal produce can also be a great way to vary your weekly menu and make the most of ingredients when they're at their best.
