Over the last few weeks we have loved the warmer weather. Lots of water play filling, emptying, floating, sinking and painting to mention a few! We have had a go at painting with marbles, building, practicing our turn taking with games, lots of stories and books , play dough fun and a trip out for coffee and cake and to feed the animals. The children have been learning about road safety, practicing walking holding the buggy and playing the stop go game whilst out and about. Lots of feeding the ducks and we are loving the changes in colors, bees and butterflies in the flower meadow by the church.

Lots more messy play for the children. We have mixed paint with shaving foam to create marble patterns on paper, looking at the changes in colours. Mixed cornflour and water always a fun experience trying to pick it up and watch it flow through our fingers. We have made and eaten pancakes, practiced our pencil control, played with play dough, made some daffodil pictures, picked daisys, made a rainbow, sang, danced, lots of stories and some Mother’s Day craft to finish off. We are moving the warmer weather and not needing to wear so many layers. Fingers crossed it stays ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

Wow time flies when you are having fun. We have been looking and talking about colours, Chinese New Year the children made tigers and we made up our own version of Pictionary with the theme of Chinese New Year. We have been playing and marble painting with shaving foam, mixing the colours, made some valentines pictures, heart painting , out for walks in the mud , and seeing our shadows when the suns popped out. Lots of stories , singing and dancing as well as getting excited as spring is starting to show in our environment around us 😃

We have continued to talk about healthy foods, treats and the importance of dental hygiene. We have read lots of stories, after reading Jack Frost we went for a walk in the frost and found some beautiful spider webs, and frozen water in some of the garden toys .Gosh those spiders are clever ! We have also been watching and looking for birds. We spotted some snowdrops too whilst out today, so spring is just around the corner 😃. We have practiced taking turns playing games together, have made pictures using paints, glue, stickers and pens etc. and lots of singing and dancing.

Happy New Year.
We have started this term looking and talking about what are healthy foods and what foods are treats and the importance of dental hygiene. The children have also been exploring colour with ice painting and some hand painting. They mixed the colours together to see what colour they made. We have been gluing and sticking to make a snowman. They did look like they had melted! We have also been out around the village, to the park and in the garden playing wrapped up in many clothes. Singing and dancing to action songs and rhymes is requested daily along with many a story. The after school children have been getting creative with the big box of Lego too.

We have had a busy and crafty few weeks. The children have made wreaths, a card, placemat, tree decorations, nativity scene, some stick puppets, etc. they have kept me busy with the clean ups 😂. We are still enjoying the outdoors and wrapping up warm. The snow was a welcome surprise but it didn’t stick so we couldn’t make a snowman. Lots of games many many stories, songs and dancing. We have also been out for coffee and cake and seen a singing yeti 😃.

We have had a busy couple of weeks exploring and getting crafty. We have looked at different textures and sounds outside, rustling though leaves, feeling the rough stone on the church. We have played ‘pooh sticks’ on the bridge and collected lots of ‘stickmen’ 😉 and made a stick fire. With the village decorated for Remembrance Day we have been looking for poppies then made our own poppy pictures. The children also made their own sparkly firework picture. The next few weeks will be filled with different Christmas crafts, singing songs, stories and hopefully outings to see some Christmas decorations and lights.

Tonight we have been talking about the importance of good hygiene and hand washing. We did an experiment together using pepper as ‘germs’. We put our fingers in the pepper and water and the ‘germs’ stick to our fingers. We then put our fingers in soap and watched the ‘germs’ move away.

We have been talking about healthy foods, our teeth and how we clean them and what foods are healthy and what foods are treats. We have collected lots of autumn treasures and used these for painting, making a sun catcher, throwing, counting, matching and number recognition to name a few. Lots of encouragement to explore making different colours, patterns, mark making, feeling different textures and messy play.
