Year 3 have had a busy and exciting first week of October!

In English, we explored the fable of The Penguin and the Ostrich, developing our vocabulary and discussing the important moral behind the story. We also used iPads to research interesting facts about penguins and ostriches, ready to support us with our Extended Write.

In RE, we explored different Christian symbols and linked these to God’s promise to Noah. We discussed what the rainbow symbolises for Christians before using our artistic skills to create our own beautiful rainbow symbols.

On Friday, we enjoyed a fantastic Alice in Wonderland dance workshop, using our bodies to help tell the story through movement. We worked creatively with our friends and peers to make different shapes, movements and sequences. We finished off another brilliant week with a fun trip to the swimming pool!

Some of our lovely learning so far…

Year 3 have had a fantastic start to their learning!

In English, we have been exploring Paddington, describing Paddington and other characters and comparing the book with the film. We then used our ideas to create our own exciting Paddington narratives, where Paddington finds himself getting into trouble during a trip to the zoo!

In RE, we have been thinking about promises, discussing right and wrong choices and exploring the story of Noah’s Ark and the promises made within the story.

In PSHE, our focus has been on belonging. We have talked about what it means to belong at Huncoat and within our Year 3 family. We completed a string activity to create a class web, helping us to see how we are all connected to one another in different ways and how everyone has an important place in our class.
