One of those days where I realise how much my brain struggles switching from what I expected and what the reality was. 🫣

Poor Alexander has been sent home from nursery with a temperature today, so I've had to cancel 2 sessions and all of the work I had planned to do has gone on hold until this evening. Instead, my day is filled with lots of cuddles. 💖💖

The flexibility of being self employed is one of the reasons I left teaching in the first place. I just need to train my brain up, so it gets used to unexpected change 🫣😂

Tutoring is not just a side hustle for me. It's my only job, so it's important that the business I am creating fully represents me, to ensure that my values are clear long term.

A lovely morning out at the Scarecrow Festival. Alexander seemed more interested in the small shop bought scarecrows on a stick than the amazing creations, but he did take a shine to Dolly Parton outside the library. Can you blame him really? 🤩

He was also especially pleased when the PCSO gave him a pencil and a keyring 👮🏻‍♂️🚓💖

I love celebrating the positives from my tutoring sessions. 💖

In the last 24 hours, I've had an email from a parent saying their child is becoming more confident in English and is really enjoying the sessions, despite not having his camera on. 🤩 (I'll never force cameras on for those reluctant!)

Then this morning, I've had another child who is a self-professed reluctant writer who wanted to continue his writing beyond the session and said, in his own words, "I like English." 🥳 He's also promised me a signed copy of his horror story when he has written it, so watch this space! 😂

Of course I want academic progress for the children I work with, but to simply get a child confident in their own ability to tackle a subject and feel like they can take on anything means so much more 💪😁
