Spending time outdoors can play an important role in children’s wellbeing, learning, confidence and development.

However, busy routines, safety concerns and limited access to outdoor space can make it harder for families, schools and carers to prioritise time in nature.

Our latest guide shares simple, practical ideas to help children reconnect with the natural world, including:
• Noticing wildlife during everyday routines
• Taking familiar activities outside
• Creating mini adventures
• Growing plants or building nature at home
• Using technology to identify birdsong, insects and wildlife
• Supporting older children with independence and sensible risk-taking

With realistic ideas for all ages, the guide helps make outdoor time feel accessible, enjoyable and worthwhile.

✨ Our Year 2 Leavers Party kicked off a week of celebrations and farewells before our amazing children move on to junior school.

A huge thank you to our wonderful PTFA for funding a fantastic magic show from Dazzling Darren – the children loved every minute! 🎩✨ It's going to be a very emotional week!

Year 2 children loved going on an animal hunt in the woods as part of their bushcraft outdoor learning. The children had to make their way around the area, looking for animals hidden with letters to make a code to solve at the end. Over the last 3 weeks, children have learnt basic survival skills that will hopefully set them up for their futures! Well done Sycamore Class!

🌟 Honley Show Success! 🌟
We’re so proud of our talented young artists! Our Year 1/2 collaborative whale (inspired by Robert Bradford) won 1st prize in the Classwork 6–7 category, and Harry (Y2) also took 1st prize for his brilliant pencil drawing of a tiger 🐋🐯
Both Harry and the school received a £5 book voucher – fantastic achievement!
👏 Well done to all our wonderful artists!

Children in Reception have been using computational thinking to organise natural objects. They demonstrated perseverance grouping their collections carefully by shape, colour and pattern before creating their own sun catchers.
