Perfect for Halloween parties, why not try our erupting pumpkin volcano experiment with your little one!

Because baking soda is a base and vinegar is an acid, when they mix, they react and produce carbon dioxide gas. That gas needs to escape, which is what causes all the fizzing and bubbling eruption!

So much fun and a great way to include some simple science into the spook-tastic celebrations! 🎃

This year's theme is "Rocket Revolution", celebrating how rockets are becoming more reusable, affordable, and accessible than ever before, opening up space exploration to more people than ever.

At Mini Professors, we love bringing space science down to earth for our little explorers, from rockets and planets to the stars above us, there's a whole universe of wonder waiting to be discovered in our classes.

We have a super easy experiment to try that turns kitchen roll into autumn magic!

All you need is 3 cups, some kitchen roll, water and food colouring (red, yellow, blue) and watch as the colours "walk" up the paper and mix together, creating gorgeous oranges, greens and purples, just like the leaves changing outside.

It's all thanks to capillary action, tiny gaps in the paper pull the water upwards, just like how trees draw water from their roots.
